In today’s Vancouver Sun newspaper is an op-ed from Dr. Wendy Levinson entitled, “There’s more to LTC than adding beds”, that is worth a read. She ended with “Prioritizing quality alongside quantity is the only way to deliver not just more care, but better care.”

Words matter in dementia care. Terms like “sufferer” or “demented” can stigmatise, stripping away dignity. Let’s use person-centered language to honour individuals, not define them by disease.
