Jim Oxford, who guided the Wachusett Regional girls' basketball team to back-to-back Division 1 state titles will not be returning as coach in 2026-27. Tom Gibbons, who coached the Wachusett boys for 27 years before stepping down in April, will serve as interim coach this year.

Shocked and saddened to hear this news. Danny was always helpful and more than happy to help spread the spotlight on high school athletes throughout the state. Thoughts are with his family and friends.
With an extremely heavy heart, I pass along that Donato "Danny V" Ventura passed away last night after a 7 month battle with cancer. He was a great journalist (best in Boston School Sports history), a fantastic guy, the best husband and a great friend to so many of us. So sad🙏
