Numbers don't lie, and sometimes the best way to explain what a project is building is to let the data speak. Optimum is now showing its Ethereum mainnet performance publicly, and the numbers are worth taking a closer look at. Over the last 7 full days, Optimum recorded a 256ms block arrival lead over Ethereum's standard gossip, with blocks propagating 2.73× faster (143ms compared to 390ms). That's not all. 88.1% of observed slots were accelerated, while the Total Value Boosted has reached over 3.4 million ETH, representing approximately $7.65 billion. But I don't want you to just take my word for it. I took a screen recording of the dashboard so you can see the figures, compare the results, and explore what Optimum is achieving on Ethereum. This is what improving the way data moves across a decentralized network looks like when you start measuring the impact. Take a look, pay attention to the numbers, and let me know what stands out to you. Speed is money ♾️ @get_optimum

1/4 “Speed is money.” That statement from Prof. Muriel Médard @MurielMedard makes a lot more sense when you understand the problem she has spent years researching and why it matters to blockchain. When we talk about making blockchains faster, the conversation usually revolves around transactions per second, bigger blocks, better execution, and scaling solutions. But there's another part of the equation that doesn't always get enough attention: how quickly information moves across the network. A blockchain can have powerful computers, efficient validators, and a well-designed consensus mechanism, but if the information those participants need takes too long to reach them, there's still a problem to solve.
“Speed is money” - @MurielMedard With $3.4B of Ethereum stake already running on Optimum’s mump2p, @cryptosmiff digs into the story behind its co-founder and CEO, Muriel Médard, who has spent 2 decades in academia focused on network coding at MIT. In a system where milliseconds can matter, the way data travels isn't just a technical detail. It can have economic consequences. This is the problem @get_optimum is working to address. Ethereum's existing peer-to-peer networking stack relies heavily on GossipSub for block propagation. It does the job of spreading information across the network, but traditional gossip-based systems can involve nodes forwarding overlapping copies of the same data. As the network grows, this can mean more redundant traffic, more bandwidth consumption, and differences in how quickly information reaches participants. The question is simple: can we move the same information more efficiently, without sacrificing the decentralization that makes the network valuable in the first place? That's where Optimum's mump2p comes in. Powered by Random Linear Network Coding (RLNC), a field of research that Prof. Médard has helped pioneer over decades, mump2p approaches data propagation differently. Rather than relying only on nodes forwarding identical pieces of information, the network can transmit coded combinations of the original data. Think of it this way. Instead of everyone repeatedly passing around the same pieces of a puzzle, the network sends coded pieces that can contribute to reconstructing the original information. As enough useful pieces arrive, a node can recover the data it needs without having to wait for every specific piece to arrive in a particular order. This can reduce redundant transmissions and help information spread more efficiently across the network. The goal isn't to replace Ethereum's consensus mechanism or change how validators reach agreement. It's to improve the journey the data takes to reach them. And that distinction matters. You don't always need to rebuild the entire system to improve its performance. Sometimes, you need to identify the part of the system holding everything else back and make that part work better. What makes this especially worth paying attention to is that mump2p isn't just an idea being discussed in research papers. Optimum has brought its approach to Ethereum mainnet, working with professional staking operators and infrastructure partners to test and use the technology in real-world conditions. The network is already accelerating the propagation of data associated with billions of dollars in staked ETH. That's an important step because performance improvements need to be examined in the environments where validators actually operate, not just in theory. Of course, faster propagation doesn't automatically guarantee higher returns for every validator. Results depend on several factors, and the benefits need to be evaluated using real measurements. But if information reaches a validator sooner and more consistently, that can create more room for it to perform its duties effectively and potentially improve its economic outcomes. This brings us back to Muriel's statement: “Speed is money.” The point isn't simply that being fast is good. It's that the time required to move information can influence what participants are able to do, how consistently they can do it, and the opportunities available to them. There's also a bigger question here about decentralization. In many systems, performance advantages tend to favor participants who can afford better infrastructure or position themselves closer to important points in the network. In blockchain, that can create an uneven playing field where operators with better connectivity or more favorable locations have an advantage over those farther away. 3/4

If improving propagation can reduce unnecessary delays and make information travel more efficiently across a geographically distributed network, then the benefits could extend beyond speed alone. It could help make participation more efficient without making proximity the only way to compete. That's one of the ideas I find interesting about Optimum. The goal isn't to make blockchain faster by simply concentrating everything in one place. It's to improve how decentralized participants communicate with one another. Because what good is a decentralized network if getting the best performance increasingly depends on being in the right location? The broader lesson is that scaling isn't only about how much computation a network can handle or how quickly it can reach consensus. It's also about how efficiently the information needed to do those things moves from one participant to another. You can have powerful computers across the world, but they still need to communicate. And when communication becomes a bottleneck, the entire system feels the effects. That's why I think this conversation is worth having, whether you're running validators, building on Ethereum, or simply trying to understand what comes next for blockchain infrastructure. Prof. Muriel Médard explains these ideas in Conviction Episode 6, including why latency matters, how networking affects blockchain performance, and why improving data propagation could have economic implications for validators. If you've been following Optimum, this is a good opportunity to understand the thinking behind the technology beyond the usual announcements and updates. Watch the episode linked below and let me know what you think. Because sometimes, the biggest gains don't come from making the computers work harder, They come from helping information reach those computers sooner. Speed is money. ♾️ @get_optimum 4/4

My first TurboCard is here all thanks to @blockchainjeff and the optimum team, and I think this is a pretty cool way for @get_optimum to commemorate its mainnet launch. ♾️ But there's something interesting about this drop that goes beyond simply minting an NFT and adding another collectible to your wallet. Optimum has released 999 TurboCards, digital collectibles created from real network performance data. Each card is a soulbound token (SBT), meaning that once you mint yours, it stays permanently tied to your wallet. You can't sell it, transfer it to another wallet, or flip it on a marketplace. And here's the part I find particularly interesting: none of the 999 cards are for sale. In a space where almost every NFT launch comes with conversations about floor prices, trading volume, rarity, and potential profits, Optimum has made it clear that TurboCards have no monetary value and no utility. They're simply memorabilia created to celebrate the mainnet launch. I like that approach because it gives the community something to keep without turning every project milestone into another financial speculation event. Think of it as a digital memento of a particular moment in Optimum's journey. You were there, you participated, you got your card, and now you have something permanently associated with your wallet to remember it by. The fact that these cards are built from real network performance data makes the idea even more interesting. Optimum has spent its time working on how data moves through decentralized networks, and now the community gets a collectible connected to that story. For me, it's another way to make the journey feel tangible. We're not just reading announcements about the project; we're also collecting little pieces of its history as it develops. And of course, you have to get an access code to claim one. Here's how you can get yours. Step 1: Get an access code Codes will be dropping on Optimum's X account, Discord, community calls, and through quests organized by partner KOLs and community leaders. The first batch drops for people with refined and higher roles on Friday, October 23, so keep your eyes open and stay active in the community. Step 2: Unlock your TurboCard Head over to the official minting page: turbocards.getoptimum.xyz/op… Follow Optimum, connect your wallet, double-check that you're on the correct website, and enter your access code. Step 3: Mint and reveal your card Select your card, click “Mint now,” and confirm the transaction in your wallet. The gas fee is very minimal, so you won't need to spend much to mint it. Once you've minted your card, you can also connect your wallet to OpenSea to check your collectible and reveal your card if it doesn't appear immediately in your wallet. That's all there is to it! If you're not already part of the community, join the official Optimum Discord and follow @get_optimum on X. Keep up with the announcements, participate in community activities, and don't miss the access code drops. One important reminder, though: be careful with fake minting websites and people trying to sell codes. Only trust the mint link and codes shared through Optimum's official channels. 999 cards. Zero for sale. No flipping. Just a piece of Optimum history to keep. Now I've got mine, Who else wants to secure a TurboCard? ♾️ @get_optimum

A lot has been happening around Optimum lately, so here’s a quick catch-up. Optimum was in Seoul for KBW, where CEO @MurielMedard spoke with Maeil Business Newspaper about how @get_optimum is improving blockchain data propagation. The core idea is simple: blockchains depend on nodes receiving information quickly and reliably. Optimum applies Random Linear Network Coding (RLNC) to this problem, allowing data to be reconstructed from different combinations of packets instead of relying on repeated transmission of the same pieces. Early mainnet measurements showed about 2.4× faster block propagation compared with Ethereum’s existing networking method, alongside improved delivery consistency. Optimum is already being used by validators representing around 14% of staked ETH, or roughly $30B. And the goal goes beyond Ethereum. The team has also been building connections across the Asian ecosystem, including CODED in Seoul and its recent activity in Singapore. On October 6, Optimum and AMBR hosted an event focused on agentic trading, AI agents, and the future of financial infrastructure. One idea stood out: As AI agents take on more trading and decision-making, the speed and reliability of the data they rely on becomes increasingly important. An agent can make a decision quickly, but that decision is only as good as the information reaching it. That makes fast, reliable networking more than just a blockchain performance problem. It becomes an important part of the infrastructure behind increasingly autonomous systems. And there’s more ahead, with Optimum continuing to explore how accelerated networking can support blockchains where data propagation is a bottleneck. From Ethereum validators to the emerging agentic economy, the underlying question remains the same: How fast and reliably can the right information get where it needs to go? That’s the problem Optimum is working on.
