Para sakin it was more about understanding that people make choices based on their situation, struggles, and survival. Edjop (2026; katski flores) 3.5/5 stars oh wow that was heavy; actually heavier than expected. I mean, I did some research naman before going in but iba pa rin talaga pala once you see it. what a harrowing experience. it could be triggering for some kasi medyo graphic siya, but you know, it was also needed to show the reality of the situation. it also captured the essence of the 60s-80s / the first quarter storm. napakagaling ni elijah canlas, and kakie pangilinan also delivered — parang hindi niya first movie, tbh. bigat rin ng role ni jodi sta maria as joyette (edjop’s daughter) because naipakita niya that while her father is a hero, dumaan rin siya sa feeling that she was abandoned — bec she lost her father to the movement. and it will make you think that two things can be true at the same time: you are a hero, AND you can also be someone who, sadly, abandoned his kids. I wish we saw more of what happened in the movement, ganyan, but then again, this relied heavily on the accounts of people who knew him, and yun nga, mas naipakita rin yung dynamics ng family. beautiful performances from cedrick juan and noor hooshmand, as well. it is an experience — a heavy one at that. I suggest watching something light after, if you can.
