Passed the CMT Level 3 exam!!
It's been an amazing journey these last few years and the CMT curriculum is definitely some of the best material on technical analysis out there.
It gave me a much more holistic view of the markets than I had going in. Super excited to be able to apply all of this in my system building and analysis.
Big thank you to the @CMTAssociation and to the wonderful CMT community, which turned out to be the best part of this journey!
A couple of weeks ago I took one trade that told me more about myself than years of backtesting.
It didn't make me rich. But it made me stop scalping.
I made a video about it, and the 3 questions I now use to pick a trading style.

this is one of the most important charts to study.
The relationship between price, the velocity of price, and the acceleration of price in relation to its cyclical nature is something i believe every aspiring trader and analyst should try to get a deep understanding of.
One of the biggest issues that i'm facing in my trading and analysis right now is the difference between time and timing of my trades.
I feel like i have a good sense of the cyclical nature of the markets and i can say something like "i believe usd/jpy will be lower in the next 2 months." i'm usually right but i tend to get stopped out way too often in that price journey.
Maybe it has to do with me failing to realize the volatility of that particular market and adjusting my risk based on it. whatever it is, i feel solving this could potentially unlock the next step in my trading.
Edward dewey who was in 1931 hired by president hoover to find out the reason for the 1929 stock market crash and the great financial crisis dedicated his life to the study of cycles.
he formed the foundation for the study of cycles in 1941. shortly before his death in 1978 when he was no longer fearful of having his research funding pulled, he wrote that the causes for these cycles to appear in nature as well as in financial markets had to be "extraterrestrial"
after finishing cmt level 3 a while ago, i thought i was going to take a break from studying and just relax for a bit but i've probably been studying technical analysis more in the last couple of weeks than i did during the tests.
there was something so motivating about going through all three levels and the program is such a great blueprint for what to focus on going forward.
right now i'm focused on cycles and i find it so fascinating that there are signs of cycles existing in all financial markets and they seem to be somewhat related to each other. for those of you interested in this, i can highly recommend the book called "mastering hurst cycle analysis" by christopher grafton.
looking forward to sharing what i've learned going forward as i continue to develop my own theories of why i believe cycles exist in financial markets and how we can implement cycle theory in trading the forex market from a swing trading perspective.
Most firms stop at funded. We're just getting started.
