The claim that Israel has a ‘right’ to exist is not what it seems. It’s really the diabolical claim that Israel has a right to commit apartheid, ethnic cleansing and genocide against Palestinians. Read my latest here: jonathancook.substack.com/p/…

When supporters argue Israel has a “right” to exist, they are trying to dupe you into believing international law is fine with apartheid, ethnic cleansing and genocide. It isn’t. Matthew Alford reads my latest: jonathancook.substack.com/p/…

For three years, Britain's political class made clear that genocide was not a red line. Now they're making clear that opposition to genocide is a red line.
I am ruling out our party entering into a national partnership with any party that is committed to a dangerous and antisemitic policy like the Green Party’s. Here is my letter to the Jewish Leadership Council and the Board of Deputies of British Jews 👇

To be clear: both the Lib Dems and Labour are saying that they will refuse to form a coalition with the Greens, even if it as the expense of a Reform or Tory government, because of a Green Party conference motion condemning a political ideology that’s led to genocide? Really?

The idiot’s guide to states – and their ‘rights’: 1. States exist. Some 200 of them. 2. States are the political arrangement in which a people express their self-determination. That arrangement can and does change. 3. States enjoy rights, but only against each other. They have the right, for example, not to face unprovoked aggression from another state. 4. No state has some enduring, abstract “right” to exist. Otherwise bad ones like apartheid South Africa would be unreformable. 5. Peoples, by contrast, do have a right to exist. That’s why states that commit apartheid, ethnic cleansing and genocide are so gravely violating international law. Because they are violating a people’s right to exist. 6. When people argue Israel has a “right” to exist, they are trying to dupe you into believing international law is fine with apartheid, ethnic cleansing and genocide. It isn’t. For obvious reasons, international law prefers the rights of peoples over those of states. Otherwise, no state could ever be illegitimate. Its rights would trump those of the people it rules over. 7. When someone refuses to agree that Israel has a “right” to exist, they are not being antisemitic, whatever the media keeps telling you. They are upholding international law: the precedence of peoples’ rights over those of states. 8. The claim that Israel has a “right” to exist is not what it seems. It’s really the claim that the current reality of extreme inequality between Israelis and Palestinians be set in stone. It’s the diabolical claim that Israel has a right to commit apartheid, ethnic cleansing and genocide against the Palestinian people.

The BBC still peddling the dangerous myth that states have a "right" to exist – an idea invented to bully politicians into silence on Israel's mass-murder of Palestinians. I explain why international law – wisely – denies states a "right" to exist: jonathancook.substack.com/p/…
“I don’t think any state has a right to exist" Green Party leader Zack Polanski says he “supports whatever the Israelis and Palestinians need to live side by side with equal rights” when asked whether he supports a two-station solution #BBCLauraK bbc.co.uk/news/live/c64gv8k2…

There were some reluctant slave owners, so slavery wasn't racist. There were some diffident apartheid supporters, so South African apartheid wasn't racist. There are some conflicted Zionists, so Zionism isn't racist. The state of political debate in 2026.

Can anyone remember the last time @BBCNews interviewed a Palestinian about their experience of the racism of Zionism? Having spent the last two weeks interviewing elderly Nakba survivors in Jordan, driven off their land in their teens because of their ethnicity and religion, I'd be happy to suggest some astonishingly articulate victims of Israeli racism who would be only too happy to tell their tragic stories of eviction, slaughter and dispossession. It is like reporting on the Civil Rights movement in the US and only interviewing outraged Whites @bbclaurak @bbcnickrobinson @JustinOnWeb @BBCr4today
“[Saying] ‘Zionism is racism’ is offensive, it’s antisemitic and it’s dangerous” Broadcaster Jo Coburn says she “watched in horror” as the Green Party passed its motion on Zionism and criticises leader Zack Polanski's defence in his #BBCLauraK interview bbc.co.uk/news/live/c64gv8k2…

Why does the Greens' "Zionism is racism" policy provoke such fear from the UK's political and media class? Because it collapses their key script – by emphasising that the struggle to end Palestinian oppression is against a racist political movement, Zionism, not against Jews. The political and media class are so desperate to keep advancing this script that they're now forced to defame the UK's only Jewish party leader as an antisemite to make it make sense. It doesn't make sense – can never make sense – because it's a lie.

BBC's Laura Kuenssberg spends the entire interview with Zack Polanski implying that the only Jewish leader of a major UK party is antisemitic. That's the nadir of political debate we've finally arrived at – all to protect Israel's genocide.

Zack Polanski explains to the BBC's Laura Kuenssberg why it's not the Greens' fault that Andy Burnham would prefer to see the collapse of local social services and an end to bin collections rather than risk upsetting the genocide-supporting Israel lobby.

BBC's Laura Kuenssberg repeatedly suggests to Zack Polanski it's not the job of the Greens to tell Jews what Zionism means. But like other journalists, Kuenssberg does think it's her job to tell Palestinians – the victims of Zionism – what the ideology oppressing them means.

"For me as a Palestinian, Zionism is racism. Zionism is genocidal. Zionism is sociopathic. Zionism is all about ethnic cleansing for a group of people at the expense of another. If I were not Palestinian, if I just happened to be a Jewish person, I would have lived with all my rights granted. No one would have questioned me, no one would have come after my land, my country, to kill us. So if that is not racism, then what is? Ever since I came to the UK, I've been hearing some bizarre ideas: 'Zionism means different things to different people'. Zionism means only one thing. And it means one thing to the people that it was manifested at. Zionism means genocide and death." Ahmed Alnaouq, who lost almost his entire extended family in a single air-strike, including 13 children, speaks at this morning's Greens4Palestine press conference./1

Declassified finds evidence suggesting a British man, Jonathan Burman, likely participated in war crimes in Gaza. Why has Scotland Yard's war crimes unit failed to investigate Burman – or the 2,000 other Britons who've served in Gaza? Watch here: piped.video/watch?v=Fzj3_gbs…

A majority of the 635 children held in Israeli prisons in 2025 were put in solitary confinement, usually for between one and two weeks – some up to eight times. 92 per cent of those children had not been sentenced. A third had not even been charged with an offence. The world's highest court says Israel is an apartheid state. Its decades-long occupation is illegal.

How are these “respected” commentators so impossibly daft? If the UK proscribed Comic Relief, we’d be pointing out how outrageous it was that Red Nose Day was allowed to take place but would be breaking the Terrorism Act if it actually raised any money.

Labour are really showing themselves up. They're comparing those of us demanding an end to the genocide with Reform and Tommy Robinson. Keir Starmer may have gone - but his politics and our Governments commitment to arms licences very much remain. 👇🏽
“We have to call out bad behaviour wherever it exists.” @Len_Duvall challenges the Greens’ ‘Zionism is racism’ motion, Reform’s attack on Sagal Abdi-Wali and Susan Hall speaking at a rally with Tommy Robinson, while acknowledging where Labour’s has faced up to its failures too.

We are immensely grateful to Sally Rooney for writing a stunning afterword for ‘The Gaza Tribunal: Britain’s Complicity in Genocide.’ Sally’s political courage is rare - and it does not go unnoticed. Thank you for standing with the people of Palestine while others turn away.

This story is bigger than a book simply being cancelled. Penguin Random House pulled Alana Hadid and Jenan Matari’s book about the Palestinian experience after clashing with them over how to tell Palestine’s story. Apparently, even a children’s book about Palestine needs a disclaimer making sure everyone knows October 7 was illegal, while the Nakba, occupation and decades of dispossession are up for editorial debate. Alana and Jenin eventually walked away rather than publish a version they couldn’t stand behind. Imagine having to fight a publisher just to tell your own people’s story. Thankfully, Palestinian-owned Interlink Books will publish it in 2027.
