In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Lord Jesus, as this day comes to its close, I place myself in Your care. You have watched over me in every hour I have lived, watch over me now as I rest. Forgive the faults of this day, what I have done and what I have failed to do. Wash my heart clean, and let me lie down in Your mercy. Stay beside me through the night. Guard my sleep, quiet my thoughts, and keep far from me all fear, all harm, and every restless spirit. If I wake, let me find You near. If I dream, let my rest be held in Your peace .I commend to You those I love, those who suffer, and those who have no one to pray for them. Keep them under Your hand as You keep me.Into Your hands, O Lord, I commend my spirit. You have redeemed me, Lord God of truth. Mary, Mother of Jesus, wrap this night in your mantle. Holy Guardian Angel, watch over me until morning. Jesus, I trust in You. Amen.

Brothers and sisters: Draw your strength from the Lord and from his mighty power. Put on the armour of God so that you may be able to stand firm against the tactics of the Devil. For our struggle is not with flesh and blood but with the principalities, with the powers, with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens.
Today's reading from the Letter of St. Paul to the Ephesians 6:10-20: Brothers and sisters: Draw your strength from the Lord and from his mighty power. Put on the armour of God so that you may be able to stand firm against the tactics of the Devil. For our struggle is not with flesh and blood but with the principalities, with the powers, with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens. Therefore, put on the armour of God, that you may be able to resist on the evil day and, having done everything, to hold your ground. So stand fast with your loins girded in truth, clothed with righteousness as a breastplate, and your feet shod in readiness for the Gospel of peace. In all circumstances, hold faith as a shield, to quench all the flaming arrows of the Evil One. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. With all prayer and supplication, pray at every opportunity in the Spirit. To that end, be watchful with all perseverance and supplication for all the holy ones and also for me, that speech may be given me to open my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the Gospel for which I am an ambassador in chains, so that I may have the courage to speak as I must.

Today, October 29, is the feast day of Saint Narcissus of Jerusalem, the 30th Bishop of Jerusalem. He is of Greek origin, he became bishop around 180 AD while already advanced in age (about 80). He was known for his holiness, discipline, and miracles. The most famous, recorded by the historian Eusebius, occurred on Holy Saturday/Easter Vigil when the church lamps ran out of oil: Narcissus prayed over water, which was poured into the lamps and miraculously turned into oil. He faced false accusations of a serious crime. Rather than fight them, he withdrew into solitude (leading many to think he had died). When his accusers suffered the punishments they had invoked on themselves if they lied, he was vindicated, returned, and resumed his duties. In extreme old age he appointed St. Alexander as coadjutor and continued serving until his peaceful death at over 100 (sources say around 116–117). St. Narcissus, pray for us 🌹

Prayer for the Intercession of Blessed Chiara Luce Badano O Father, fount of everything good, we give You thanks for the wonderful testimony of Blessed Chiara Badano. Filled with the Holy Spirit and guided by the radiant light of Jesus, she believed firmly in Your infinite love, and wished to return it with all her strength, surrendering herself in complete trust to Your paternal will. We humbly beseech You that You may also grant us the gift to live with You and for You, and ask You, if it be Your will, for the grace (mention your intention here) through Our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. Blessed Chiara Luce Badano, pray for us!
Today also the Catholic Church celebrates Blessed Chiara Luce Badano (1971–1990), an Italian teenager from Sassello known for her joyful faith amid suffering. Born on October 29, 1971, as the long-awaited only child of Ruggero and Maria Teresa Badano, she joined the Focolare Movement at age nine. Its founder, Chiara Lubich, gave her the nickname “Luce” (“Light”). At 16–17 she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (a painful bone cancer). She responded with deep trust, saying “If you want it, Jesus, I want it too,” refused morphine to stay conscious for God, and continued offering her pain with peace and love until her death on October 7, 1990, at age 18. She was beatified by Pope Benedict XVI on September 25, 2010. Her feast day is today, October 29, the day of her birth. Blessed Chiara Luce Badano, pray for us!
