The ever inspirational @niallbolger talking about how Net Zero Neighbourhoods recognise that there is no incentive for individual action, no appetite to load up individuals with debt. One secret: unwavering political direction. Really helpful to see a worked example... #3CiLondon

Fascinating work on energy supply and demand across the whole west London region, inc 18% demand from data centres - which also means a huge heat source. Huge step forward on understanding the WL energy pipeline and investment opportunity. Led by @LBofHounslow and GLA. #3CiLondon

Today we publish @theCCCuk annual report on progress in reducing UK emissions.
We reflect on policy progress in a year that brought the UK’s first recorded 40C day and spiralling fossil fuel costs.
And there’s a reality check on the acceleration needed for 2030 and beyond.

Imagine a world where it gets so hot that there are warnings not to go outside. It might sound like a scenario from a scifi movie, but that's what happened in Vietnam yesterday, where temps broke all-time records with a high of 44.1C (111.38F) bit.ly/3M4NQUJ

This is huge: Yesterday the German government confirmed plans to no longer allow stand-alone fossil fuel heating systems to be installed from 01 January 2024.
That’s in all buildings and will come into force in just 8 months.

So given this dire news, surely we are well on our way to cutting our carbon emissions, no?
No.
The synthesis report is crystal clear: we are not doing nearly enough to avoid dangerous impacts, let alone achieve the targets of the Paris Agreement.

Here are the big takeaways from the @IPCC_CH Synthesis Report released today.
First, climate change has already caused widespread and substantial losses to almost every aspect of human life on this planet, and the impacts on future generations depend on the choices we make NOW.
