Member States will tell you with a straight face that Europe needs less red tape. Then, behind closed doors, they try to water down #EUInc, an initiative that would benefit thousands of innovative companies across the continent, to: 🔸️keep notaries mandatory for buying and selling shares 🔸️add notarial steps where an eIDAS signature already does the job 🔸️protect notaries' and registries' revenue 🔸️ copy-paste lobby arguments against a digital registry 🔸️question the legal basis to stall the whole file Bravo to 🇦🇹 🇸🇮 🇪🇪 🇭🇷 🇧🇬 🇱🇹 for these surreal proposals: a slap in the face to every founder trying to build in Europe, and to the citizens who asked for simplification.
Ladies & Gentlemen, we have managed to get the @EUCouncil ' EU Inc files. The ones that matter. The ones where we see the position of Each Member state: including who pushed the notaries' agenda. Buckle up and Repost. 🍿 Now if you are from those Member States, make some noise. Directly or through associations, politicians. Enjoy the thread 🧵 1/

This is eye-opening. Europe’s share of global tech R&D has collapsed from 23% in 2005 to just 8% today, while the US has climbed to 62% and China has risen from near zero to 15%. South Korea now outspends Germany, France, the UK, and Italy combined in tech R&D. Yep, you read that right. This is the predictable result of policy choices that systematically favor control and redistribution over growth. Layered regulation, data rules, AI restrictions, labor rigidities, and precautionary frameworks, raises the cost and slows the pace of turning ideas into products, forcing companies to spend scarce resources on compliance rather than experimentation. High taxation and expansive redistributive systems extract capital that would otherwise fund private R&D and risk-taking, while shrinking the after-tax reward for building something new and scaling it. The broader left-leaning mindset that prioritizes equality of outcome over dynamism treats entrepreneurial success as something to be managed, taxed, or shared rather than unleashed and rewarded. Places that protect the returns to innovation and keep barriers low continue to pull ahead, attracting talent and capital that Europe increasingly loses. Europe’s relative decline is the cumulative outcome of treating dynamism as a problem to be regulated rather than the engine of prosperity. Without a shift toward lighter rules, lower burdens on enterprise, and greater tolerance for unequal outcomes from unequal effort, the gap will keep widening, and Europe will become an open-air museum for wealthy Americans and Asians.

Meta has suspended the Instagram organising account of Angie Nixon, Florida’s Democratic nominee for the US Senate, just 7 days before the midterm elections. According to Nixon, the account was taken down while her campaign was posting from a voter mobilisation rally in a Puerto Rican community, cutting off a critical channel for reaching Latino voters. Meta also suspended the No Kings movement’s Instagram account earlier this month, just as organisers were encouraging people to vote early. Meta blamed an automated error, an explanation I challenged through technical analysis, and 14 state attorneys general are now demanding answers. In Brazil, Meta censored Lula’s presidential campaign on Instagram while promoting his far right opponent, Flávio Bolsonaro. I was asked by investigative journalists to provide technical analysis of that censorship. My testing demonstrated how easily Meta’s unequal treatment of political candidates could be exposed. Meanwhile, a New Mexico court has ordered Meta to pay $25 billion after a jury found it misled people about its data practices in a case linked to Cambridge Analytica, which harvested Facebook data for political profiling and manipulation during the 2016 US election. As predicted, we’re now seeing political Instagram accounts restricted in the US at a critical point in another election. The common denominator in these incidents is that the accounts being restricted aren’t far-right. Zuckerberg needs to be asked the same technical questions I outlined in my Substack article about Meta’s censorship in Brazil. He should be forced to explain exactly how these accounts were restricted, who authorised it and why Meta’s technical explanations don’t stand up to testing. It shouldn’t matter which side of the political debate is being censored. Everyone should be outraged when tech companies interfere with democratic elections by suppressing political voices. When those restrictions consistently favour particular political interests, we have every reason to suspect an agenda. We will never know what agreements these companies have made with political leaders behind closed doors until it’s too late. @AngieNixon

SpaceX Blocked A U.S. And NATO Satellite to Assist a Russian Intercept After Crippling Ukraine's Air Defenses The Math Proves the Reality that Musk doesn't want you to see. On Oct 13-14, SpaceX restricted Starshield/Starlink during a 39-missile Russian attack, cutting Ukrainian drone intercepts by 23% and stranding U.S. personnel in Kyiv. Forty-eight hours later (Oct 15), SpaceX blocked U.S.-licensed NRO, Space Force, and NATO radar satellite ICEYE-X36 in orbit so Russia's COSMOS 2612 weapon could intercept it (99.89%-99.98% posterior) Our Model Demonstrates that the Russian intercept of the US/NATO ICEYE X-36 satellite (contemporaneous with the throttling of Starlink) would not have been possible, and almost certainly not been attempted, without SpaceX resources. At a material opportunity cost, Russia sprinted its COSMOS satellite to intercept ICEYE X36. Based on a previous attempt in June during which X36 maneuvered to evade COSMOS, Russia knew that this would be successful only if X36 could not maneuver. On October 15, SpaceX fixed X36 in place by issuing a collision alert for a sub-kilometer approach with its Starlink 35856 when SpaceX's own data shows that the actual distance was 4.8-5.0x as great. SpaceX issued no warning to COSMOS despite the fact that its sprint was far more threatening than the stable X36 orbit. SpaceX did not maneuver its Starlink 35856 satellite to clear the supposed collision risk. How, absent coordination with SpaceX, could Russia have known that SpaceX would take actions that (a) misrepresented the danger posed by X36, and (b) resulted in the fixing of X36 thereby enabling COSMOS's successful intercept? Thus, SpaceX was directly involved in simultaneously compromising Ukraine’s defensive and offensive capabilities. The conjunction of these two events makes innocent explanations untenable. The Pentagon Capture & Iran Round Two Trap: Pentagon CTO Emil Michael who cashed out $7M–$35M from Musk’s inner-circle SpaceX vehicles (M8/Gigafund 0.1 and M6/Valor M33 II) and KQ Partners / xAI (selling xAIfor $5M–$25M three days before taking over CDAO/OSCand 21 days before SpaceX bought xAI, while keeping M8, M6, M9, M10 & Nomadic open) and Pete Hegseth purged rival Anthropic in two hours, surrendered combat command over US drones used to attack Iran to Starlink’s "Terms of Service," and on October 2 named Musk Co-Director of Project Meridian to design the Pentagon's "Future of Warfighting" just as America enters Iran Round Twowith depleted Patriot/THAAD magazines and Russia feeding U.S. warship/aircraft locations to Tehran. SpaceX’s actions in Ukraine raise serious questions about its alignment with US security interests and its reliability as a cornerstone of US defense. These questions are particularly troubling given the effectively irreplaceable position SpaceX has been granted by the Hegseth/Emil Michael Pentagon. $SPCX $TSLA Our full quantitative analysis below w/ @streetwiseprof

the mathematicians pushing back on AI say that it might help with proofs, but not our HUMAN UNDERSTANDING of math. so I got curious how chess players think AI engines help them better understand chess. and found this clip of Magnus Carlsen: “the neural nets have improved our understanding of the game immensely.” watch his HUMILITY towards these engines: “it’s just that my understanding is not good enough. And that is useful.” “I rarely play against engines at all because they just make me feel so stupid and useless.”
Wow, over 1,000 mathematicians have now joined the Association for Human Mathematics (AHM), committing to: > NOT publish AI generated math papers > NOT work with frontier labs > 654 of them went even further to NOT even use AI in their research, at all

US energy company execs have resigned in disgust as the Trump family is caught secretly expediting the funneling of $25 billion from a sanctioned Russian energy giant in exchange for allowing Russians to obtain a natural gas project in Alaska. According to investigations by The New York Times and Financial Times, Russia's Novatek allegedly concealed its financial involvement in the American project through a UAE-linked intermediary. Gentry Beach, a longtime Trump ally and close friend of Donald Trump Jr., signed an agreement with Novatek to pursue natural gas development in Alaska. Reuters documented the arrangement in February. Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin discussed this cooperation on the Alaska energy project with Trump's representatives, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, during negotiations involving Russia and Ukraine. The controversy deepened when Polar Train LNG's CEO, Joel Riddle, raised concerns about concealed Russian financing and possible sanctions violations. He departed in September, followed by other senior executives. The Financial Times also described discussions about a potential arrangement under which Novatek would provide technology for the Alaska project in exchange for sanctions relief benefiting its Arctic LNG 2 development in Siberia. According to The New York Times, Riddle and two other departing executives warned the Trump administration about the Russian financing and urged officials to investigate. The White House maintains that the project was mentioned only briefly and that no detailed discussions took place. There is no established evidence that Kushner or Witkoff knew about the allegedly concealed financing. Polar Train LNG denies wrongdoing. The central question is how a sanctioned Russian energy company became involved in a major American energy venture while Putin was discussing potential economic cooperation with Trump's representatives and a longtime Trump family associate was pursuing a separate agreement with the same Russian company. Selling Alaska to the Russians or selling Ukraine to the Russians - to the Trump family it's all the same. ft.com/content/e9cfbfbb-e65a…

Thats kinda cool, but many people will get attached to it and isolate from real humans even more. Many will get scammed on the phone, especially grandpas and grandmas. The future is coming get ready

France is trying to come to terms with a disturbing new development tonight -  a terrorist attack on black people and muslims in a town just south west of Paris. President Emmanuel Macron travelled to Trappes soon after the attack which killed one person and wounded four others, including a 12 years old girl. Macron said: ‘This is a turning point - the first time in our Republic that people have been targeted in a terrorist attack for the colour of their skin.’ 1/ lemonde.fr/societe/live/2026…

If the #Malfoid trend has shown me anything, it's this - we are fast approaching a time where people will judge a work based on its merits and not by how it was made. And those people who cannot, will be regarded as ignorant bigots and luddites like countless other groups throughout history. And I'll go one step further, which is sure to piss off a great deal of you. I don't care at this point. I would rather watch an AI product like this than sit through any insufferable corpo slop like Amazon's Rings of Power or Disney's Star Wars ever again! This small production had more heart, more thought, and yes! More talent behind it than either of the two storytelling abortions mentioned above ever had. You want to tell stories in a traditional way, fine. Power to you! You want to use AI to tell stories, fine. Power to you as well! May the story with the best ideas, most engaging characters, and most compelling plot win. That's all I want. Good storytelling once again. Who knew that a silly Harry Potter genderswap would show the power and creativity of AI?

This is a ridiculous story. The EU passes a law that says they will find booking up to 10% of their annual global revenue if they don't allow businesses to contact users directly outside the "gatekeeper" channels. Now they threaten a 6% fine because of those communications.
