What do citizens across the Americas think about the state of democracy today, and what do those views mean for the future of democratic governance?
Our Coalition Partner,
@VU_CGD, together with
@KeoughGlobalND, the
@KelloggInst, and
@The_Dialogue, will convene policymakers, scholars, civil society leaders and democracy practitioners for The Pulse of Democracy in the Americas on 9 September 2026 in Washington, D.C.
Marking the release of the 2026 AmericasBarometer regional report, the forum will explore new findings on democratic resilience, institutional trust, governance, migration, public security and political change across the Americas. Drawing on one of the world's most comprehensive cross-national public opinion studies, the discussion will examine what these trends mean for policymakers, democratic institutions and practitioners working to strengthen democracy in a rapidly changing region.
This year's AmericasBarometer expands its scope in important ways, incorporating Cuba for the first time and extending comparisons to include the United States and Canada alongside Latin America and the Caribbean, offering a unique regional perspective on democratic attitudes and experiences.
The event will take place from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. ET at the Keough School Washington Office, 1400 16th St NW, Suite 120, Washington, D.C., and will feature leading experts from Vanderbilt University, the University of Notre Dame, the Inter-American Dialogue, the
@CarnegieEndow and other prominent institutions.
