Clear rules help expand stablecoin utilization, which helps extend dollar dominance worldwide and - critically - creates demand for treasury bills, which drives down interest rates for Americans. @coinbase is on the forefront of this fight -->
We just filed comments on @USTreasury’s GENIUS Act proposal. Two priorities from @coinbase in this letter: (1) keep agency rules consistent with Congress’s intent to strengthen the dollar, and (2) allow U.S. platforms to facilitate cross-border payments using foreign stablecoins that U.S. customers never hold. Thanks to Treasury and the regulators for the serious work underway to make the U.S. the home of dollar stablecoins.

People need money to work for them - not the other way around. A payment sent Friday shouldn't wait until Monday, and transfer fees shouldn't bleed families dry. Nearly 3/4 of stablecoin volume moves outside banking hours, and remittance costs can be 86% lower. It's time to bring our financial system into the modern era.
Your life doesn’t run on banking hours, your money shouldn’t either. Stablecoins already meet that bar – with most volume moving on nights, weekends and holidays. 73% of volume to be exact. And that’s just one of the findings from our new research with @TheBlockCo ↓

Very interesting nugget in this survey is that favorable/unfavorable views of AI have actually improved by a net +10 since last month (from net -9 to net +1). we may be past peak AI Doomerism
NEW national survey from @NavigatorSurvey on AI Two-thirds want more regulation of AI, only 12% want less — and that holds across parties (74% of Dems, 61% of Republicans, 56% of independents) and even among people who use it every week and like it.

no matter how you slice it it's obvious that DC construction is not the most important variable in electricity pricing. and DC construction tends to correlate with the actual most important variables: - whether you live in a red or blue state - whether you live in a state where building things is legal or not thus, states with lots of DCs tend to have cheaper power.

Very inconvenient for AI doom and gloomers!
It’s weird that the CEO of Hugging Face continues to be an “AI is normal technology” guy despite being the victim of an autonomous cyberattack by a swarm of rogue agents, arguably the least normal thing AI has done so far.

So you're saying Transformer is not independent and will still be funded by @tarbellcenter through the 2028 election? Got it. semafor.com/article/12/07/20…

ALT Shocked GIF by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

Some news! Transformer is spinning out from Tarbell and becoming its own independent organization. We're very grateful to Tarbell for incubating us and acting as our publisher for the last couple years. In that time, we've built up an enviable subscriber list — incl. staff across Congress, the executive branch, and frontier AI companies — and regular citations from the NYT, New Yorker, Washington Post and many others. We're doubling down on our success, with ambitious 2027 and 2028 growth plans. We're very excited for the flexibility becoming an independent entity will bring us!

Union workers are literally lining up to get data center jobs. And there are *STILL* critics gaslighting the public that data centers don't create good jobs.

on one hand, this counts as a counter-intuitive take these days. but it should be obvious -- take a look, for instance, at this scatterplot of states by average residential electricity rates and also number of data centers. there is no correlation.
New analysis concludes "data centers have not caused electric rates to increase in most places" via @Edison_Electric

and raw data center numbers isn't always instructive, so here's a chart of residential electricity prices against reported data center power consumption size. there's actually a NEGATIVE correlation -- more data center energy capacity, lower prices for consumers

Correct; it's the lack of pipelines and reliance on high-emitting fuel oil.

BTW Maine and Rhode Island have very few data centers, both fewer than ~a dozen. New York has more but it's not a top-5 data center state. It's not the data centers driving up electric bills.
"Over the last six years, residential electric rates have climbed by about 20% to 30% in most states, yet far more in Maine (92%), New York (59%), Rhode Island (45%) and Massachusetts (43%)." wsj.com/opinion/northeast-en…

my favorite was graham platner, who said working class was "anyone who makes money from wages", so inclusive of both a janitor and, say, a salaried partner at goldman sachs

"the so-called tax breaks “for data centers” aren’t for data centers. They apply to a large class of investments. Equipment purchases for data centers don’t receive any greater benefit than equipment purchases for any other investment."
The hot new Democratic campaign tactic is to attack Republicans over a tax break that doesn't exist. @PostOpinions washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

unfathomable damage done to America. You could have abundant, cheap, emission-free electricity flowing to your home right now if it weren't for these people.

Remember when the Biden Administration sued Musk for not hiring enough foreigners for roles at his national-security-adjacent space company that legally couldn’t hire foreigners
NEW — Elon Musk is facing a gauntlet of Democratic oversight next term. Multiple committees — including Foreign Affairs, Oversight and Science — are looking at investigating Musk if they have the gavels. From DOGE to Ukraine, the uberwealthy GOP donor could be an irresistible target. “The sheer number of conflicts of interest are astounding,” Rep. Zoe Lofgren said. w/ @ChrisMarquette_ @adamwren politico.com/news/2026/10/20…
