🛰️ Launching the ROSS Club at the University of Alberta We recently established a dedicated R&D team for remote observation focused research: ROSS (Remote Observation, Sensing & System) at the Multimedia Research Centre (MRC) mrc.science.ualberta.ca/ross…. The team turns remote signals into decisions, combining satellite, drone, robotic and ground sensing with AI across earth observation, agriculture, infrastructure and environmental monitoring. The ROSS Club is our student-oriented community, run for students and open to all UofA students with no prerequisites: talks and intro sessions on satellites, drones and multimodal sensing, hack sessions on real datasets, field demos and flight days, and connections with ROSS researchers, industry partners and the wider sensing community. Our first event: Remote Sensing in Agriculture 🎤 Joshua Billson, PhD Student, MRC 📅 Wed Aug 19, 1:00–2:30 pm (MT) 📍 Hybrid: UCOMM 4-140 @UAlberta + open Zoom (no passcode) Joshua will cover how satellite, aerial and drone imaging supports crop mapping, plant health assessment, disease detection and yield prediction, plus where the field is heading: multi-temporal learning, foundation models for Earth observation, object-centric approaches and large language models in remote sensing workflows. Everyone is welcome. Walk-ins welcome in person, the Zoom link is open, and registering helps us plan capacity. 🔗 Details and add-to-calendar: mrc.science.ualberta.ca/ross… 📬 Newsletter for future events: groups.google.com/g/ross-clu… #RemoteSensing #Agriculture #EarthObservation #AI #UAlberta #StudentClub

I know there are many fancy terminals and multiplexers. First, I still think it’s best to stay terminal-agnostic. Second, if you find a useful feature, just have Codex or Claude migrate it to tmux through either a fork or a plugin. Or you can simply use their desktop versions.

Nice work! @thsottiaux
Beginning July 20, Claude Fable 5 will be included in all Max and Team Premium plans, at 50% of limits. Pro and Team Standard users will continue to have access to Fable via usage credits, and will receive a one-time $100 credit. Demand for Fable has been challenging to predict, which is why we rolled it out to subscription plans in stages, extending access several times as we secured additional capacity.

Great, you finally fixed the chat UX.
Today we're making some updates to the ChatGPT desktop app. - previous chats and cloud projects are in the sidebar - chat mode is now lives alongside work mode, not just in quick chat - fixed a bunch of other things

Review pull requests and make follow-up edits without leaving Codex. PR Chat lets you ask Codex questions about a specific pull request in context. Inline code editing lets you send review feedback to Codex, inspect the proposed patch inline, and edit, accept, or reject it.

To me, and this is also the rule I share with my family, colleagues, and students: AI is meant to help you learn knowledge more effectively, not to skip the process of learning altogether.

GPT-5.6 Sol feels more like a colleague than just another AI model. What I appreciate most is that it works with me. It doesn't constantly second-guess my intent or behave as if it knows better. Also, I think the new Codex is pointing in a very exciting direction. Personally, I'd even call it GPTStudio rather than ChatGPT or Codex. It feels like an environment for building, working, experimenting, and shipping, not just chatting and programming. There are still plenty of rough edges, bugs, and details to polish, but that's exactly what I'd expect from fast iteration. The direction feels right.

I've been wanting durable memory across coding sessions, projects, and even different machines, so I built turing-mem. It stores agent memory as plain Markdown in a Git-syncable directory—no database, no daemon, no proprietary format. The same memory works with both Claude Code and OpenAI Codex CLI. The design goal is simple: user asks → one index read → open ≤3 notes → answer. If you're working with coding agents, I'd love to hear your feedback. github.com/Lucklyric/turing-…

Are you kidding me? I think I could build it with Codex for less than 80 bucks.
You can now order the Codex Micro online! This is a limited run, so don’t sleep on it. I’ve been building and refining the in app experience for a while and having Codex IRL as a keyboard feel so good! Such a fun collaboration with @work_louder! openai.com/supply/co-lab/wor…

Codex should enable a UI/UX-enhanced extension system, similar to VS Code.
I wanted faster iterations on codex responses instead of asking questions one by one, so I added sticky notes - annotate codex response with your questions and let it answer all at once!

Regardless of Anthropic’s perspective on China, this article shows off Claude’s features so thoroughly it might as well come with a ‘Buy Now’ button 😆😆😆
