I proudly supported #LondonPoppyDay at Victoria train station yesterday. Remembrance is a duty we share. By wearing a poppy and giving what we can, we honour those who sacrificed so much and help ensure our Armed Forces community receives the support it deserves.

Good news on the new budget from @JohnHealey_MP with a strong commitment on defence. The UK role in transatlantic security is vital, and I welcome this move to put 🇬🇧 on a credible path towards meeting the commitment made by all NATO Allies in The Hague - to ensure we’re all investing what’s needed to remain ready & able to deter aggression and defend our freedom and security

Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine poses a serious threat to UK prosperity and security. That's why this Budget is providing over £10bn in additional support to Ukraine.

I’ve said since my first day as Defence Secretary that I trust this Chancellor to give us what we need to keep our country safe. Today demonstrates why. We’re delivering the biggest sustained increase in defence spending since the Cold War. Today the Chancellor not only restated our NATO commitment to spend 3.5% of GDP by 2035, but also to spend 3% by 2030. The gravest dangers of the 20th century are returning, armed with the technologies of the 21st. The Conservatives left our armed forces underfunded and hollowed out. This Labour Chancellor is investing in our defence - a Britain ready to fight and a country worth fighting for. 🇬🇧🌹

The UK Government helped save this Scottish yard. Now it's growing, with more apprentices and investment in Fife. Scottish Secretary @D_G_Alexander and @DefenceHQ Minister @LukePollard visited the yard in Methil to see first-hand how £26.7m of investment is making a difference.

Increasing defence spending offers more chances to reindustrialise and create more good jobs. Today I joined Douglas Alexander and Richard Baker at Navantia’s shipyard in Methil to see what defence-led growth looks like. 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

At this very moment RAF pilots stand ready to launch RAF Typhoons as quick reaction aircraft from RAF Lossiemouth. HMS Prince of Wales is in the High North keeping the UK and allies safe and MOD teams protect our nation’s cyber and digital infrastructure. I’m proud of our forces
Luke Pollard, UKG minister for defence readiness and industry, was at Navantia in Methil this morning meeting shipyard apprentices - but he accused the SNP of “doing Putin’s dirty work” when asked about John Swinney’s claim that Scottish waters are “dangerously exposed” @LBC

Over the past few days, our city has seen some challenging weather conditions A huge thank you to all the emergency service workers, council staff, utility crews and volunteers who have worked to keep people safe, clear roads, respond to incidents and support our communities.

I'd also like to thank the public for looking out for one another, checking in on neighbours, following advice and showing the community spirit that Plymouth is known for. We're incredibly fortunate to have so many people willing to step up when they're needed most. Thank you💙
