Hakeem Jeffries declared “maximum warfare” on Florida back in April. What he didn’t tell us was that he was going to lie on behalf of Crooked Kathy Castor. I took a principled vote against a massive expansion of government that would provide nearly $1 billion to the medical industrial complex. This would have been one of the largest expansions of government in Florida history. The bill did nothing to reduce healthcare costs.
Hakeem’s advertisement claims I voted against this legislation because I own “healthcare stock.” This makes no sense. Both the legislation I voted against and the Unaffordable Care Act that Crooked Kathy Castor enacted benefited healthcare companies. Further, I searched my holdings for “healthcare stock” and found only about $3000 worth of Pfizer stock. The legislation at issue does not appear to impact pharmaceutical companies at all. For that matter, I have legislated and litigated against Big Pharma on several occasions, all to prevent their price gouging of American consumers.
Crooked Kathy Castor’s increase in net worth arose almost entirely from stock trading while in office. By contrast, my increase in net worth arose almost entirely from my law practice, where individuals and small businesses paid me to represent them. If you vote for me on November 3, I can represent you as well!
