The science underlying the trials and the clinical trial started right here @MSKNeurosurgery @MSKCancerCenter and @studerl .
The studies weren’t designed to test whether these cells improved symptoms. But there were hints that these cells did help. sciencenews.org/article/park…

Dr. @TabarViviane and Dr. @studerl, physician-scientists at MSK, have developed a treatment for #Parkinson’s disease that involves creating nerve cells from embryonic stem cells and transplanting them into patients. Early results show the treatment is safe and may improve Parkinson’s symptoms. "This is an important milestone on the road towards regenerative brain repair," says Dr. Tabar. "It represents more than two decades of collaborative work, based on very rigorous science beginning in our labs." Learn more: bit.ly/3EvfKbB bit.ly/4lxH2yC

CNS mets=increasingly the main challenge in HER2+ #breastcancer. Here we show that fully 55% of pts w/such spread suffer CNS-related mortality; even more so in the growing (+longer-surviving) population w/CNS-only disease jamanetwork.com/journals/jam…
Patients with HER2+ metastatic breast cancer face a high risk of death due to CNS involvement, and those with CNS-only disease had longer overall survival. ja.ma/42DHmF4 @BouNassif_MD
