I'm excited to share 26 ideas in user-owned tech! We @ElectricCapital invest $1M to $20M in user-owned technology that gives people control, privacy, and access. 6 ideas to highlight: In Finance as Entertainment... - Spectator capital: Live stream audiences need ways to financially participate in outcomes. What it could look like: A platform that lets audiences stake on live content. Participation makes watching more fun, but currently viewers are limited to tips and subscriptions. This platform lets reality TV audiences stake predictions on who gets eliminated, or lets audiences copytrade as a streamer shares their trading session. - Opinion markets: Prediction market platforms need markets that resolve on collective belief, not just events. What it could look like: A platform that generates market-ranked lists. Users stake positions on where they believe others will rank these items. This platform creates lists for the best pizza in NYC, the top wines under $20, the most influential movies of the last decade, or the best AI developer tools, all ranked by the market. Lists resolve weekly based on stake-weighted rankings. - Drama launchpads: Individual storytellers need funding and distribution platforms now that they can produce dramas more cheaply than studios. What it could look like: A UGC platform for short-form drama. Creators produce episodes with AI video tools: mafia boyfriend sagas, secret billionaire reveals, revenge thrillers. Fans unlock episodes with tokens and tip creators directly. Creators earn based on viewership. ReelShort generated $700M+ revenue in Q1’25 with low-budget, studio-made drama series. This platform combines YouTube UGC content with ReelShort’s video format. In Fintech & Defi... - Non-crypto correlated yield: Stablecoin holders need yield that does not drop when BTC price drops. What it could look like: A platform that brings real-world infrastructure yields to stablecoin holders. Yield could come from data center project bonds, solar installations, and EV charging networks with predictable cash flows and no correlation to crypto. - Globally accessible equities: Global investors need direct ownership of foreign opportunities with low friction and costs. What it could look like: A financial product that replicates equity ownership with price exposure, no funding rate, and no expiration. A trader in the Philippines builds a US tech portfolio. A Canadian builds Korean semiconductor exposure. - New forms of insurance: Businesses need fast, transparent coverage for operational risks that traditional insurance cannot provide. What it could look like: A platform that uses prediction markets to create new insurance products. A hotel chain can buy hurricane protection for its Florida properties. A ski resort can hedge against a warm winter. Capital providers supply liquidity in exchange for uncorrelated yield. Read all 26 ideas below.

So basically, today PHP got two critical bugs that let anyone run code on your server without even logging in, which is bad, and then the details leaked before the patch was even out, which is worse, and it works on WordPress and MediaWiki and Magento and Joomla and Laravel, and Censys says like 1.5 million servers are running a version with no fix, so the NSA was like "take your system offline," and the FBI was like "take your system offline," and CISA and the UK and CERT-EU were all like "take your system offline," and then the Prime Minister of Japan, the actual Prime Minister, posted at 5:55 in the morning telling 48.8 million people to take their system offline, so everyone took their system offline, like the Dutch cybersecurity agency took its own website offline, and the Dutch parliament went offline, and the Port of Rotterdam went offline, and Finland and France and Denmark started pulling government sites, and Wikipedia went down, and Archive.org went down, and Asana and GOG and Something Awful went down, and the University of Vienna's webmail went down for some reason, and that's just PHP. Because GitLab also dropped a CVSS 10.0, which is the highest score they give out, for a bug that's been there since 2014, so that's every self-hosted GitLab for twelve years, and then LiteLLM 1.107.0 got hijacked and shipped a credential stealer and a remote access trojan in every single wheel and the Docker images, including latest, and you didn't even have to import it, just installing it was enough, and it's the second time this year, and then Railway paused every deployment on the entire platform because someone got into the environment variables, so now everyone has to rotate every secret they've ever stored there, and TiDB Cloud said someone was walking around inside with stolen credentials for basically a month and an extortion group says they took 10.6 terabytes, and Zeabur got breached for the second time in two months and is just shutting down, like the whole company, and Node.js patched remote code execution and a TLS bypass, and CISA says Plex is being actively exploited, and someone took over 300 Tor exit relays to steal SSH passwords, and SafePay ransomware has hit over 600 critical infrastructure orgs, and India's biggest bank filed a data loss incident, and Japan has been in an official state of emergency in cyberspace since October 9, which honestly explains the 5:55 AM post. Oh, and eMudhra, a certificate authority that's issued over 60 million certificates, whose entire job is proving websites are who they say they are, was supposed to be using private keys that are random numbers over a hundred digits long, and one of them was 4. Just 4. And the others were like 66 and 237. Anyway, it's Wednesday.

Two months ago we pivoted our entire GTM strategy around becoming a creator company Fintech companies pay 5/6 figs+ for anyone with a remotely relevant audience. We’ve done some creator deals ourselves which have been -ev on on all fronts (brand awareness, deposits, roas, etc) I think there’s a much bigger opportunity in owning the distribution and building your own universe of personalities, media, and culture Your ability to build an audience becomes a direct function of how well you understand your niche, how much people resonate with what you’re building, and your ability to tell stories Far more meritocratic and interesting imo
Very interesting to see creative directors of these big companies build a brand on the back of it. It reminds me of something I was shouting a two years ago around the office. “Creator companies”

Challenge Update: 30k --> 1M (@ 211k) Had a rough time getting this portfolio above 200k. I tapped about 180k back in late June, but blew up in the memory meltdown all the way back down to 40k. Climbed back up to about 180k since then to last week, then had a serious drawdown a few days ago down to 80k. now after the $STRK play we're back at 210k (closed $STRK perps for +106K, my biggest realized single position pnl on Legend yet) In terms of difficulty, I think I'm about halfway there to get to 1M (30k --> 210k is a 7x, 210k --> 1M is just a 5x) What I'm looking for next: - For the next few months I'm going to particularly focus on "AI winners", in CRYPTO, not in tradfi itself. These are coins that have a great narrative in a post-AI future -- quantum resistant, private, AI focused chains, etc. IMO these have the best upside and show the most strength/volatility $STRK, $ZEC, $NEAR, etc come to mind Some cool highlights: - I've been doing this for 6months now have experienced 50-75%+ drawdowns twice now - my copy traders on Legend over 40k+ overtime, mostly new users One of my favorite parts about doing this challenge is the fact that people actually give me feedback and comment on my trading as I go through the process. It's very obvious to me now where my mistakes are in trading. And funny enough, people actually notice my mistakes too as they watch me trade. I do not think Id be where im at now if it was not on Legend tbh.

There have been a ton of shows that ridicule crypto culture or try to appropriate it without actually understanding it. This is the first one that's coming straight from the trenches. Written by the legendary @gabrielhaines. Honored to have contributed some funds to this and can't wait to stream it!
