I don't know how it is in other markets, but Sacramento is one of the most-fascinating places to work and live for our local TV journalism alone.
Our TV reporters have ZERO chill and put up with ZERO bullshit.
What will be the biggest difference between Xavier Becerra and Gavin Newsom if he's elected governor?
Becerra immediately pointed out his fluency in Spanish.
He also signaled he won't jam the California Legislature:
Actually, I do know how it is in other markets because the city where I live is on the fringe of the Bay Area, and we get their news, too, which is more buttoned up because SF is a larger, better paying market...
Some of the "zero chill" we're seeing is the byproduct of how terrible the local news industry is right now, in terms of salary (low) and employment (no job security).
When you feel you have nothing much to lose — what are they going to do, fire you? — you GO FOR IT.
"JerryRig Everything," a popular YouTuber who destroys consumer electronics, has exposed Trump Mobile's flagship phone as being made by China's HTC.

Flossy Carter's hour-long YouTube video on the iPhone Duo could have been a 10-minute YouTube video on the iPhone Duo.
The length these creators have to go to just to make a living — producing hour-long videos because it triggers more ad money — is insane.
Sam Altman says its bad that everyone's personal computers are using the world's limited supply of memory chips.
"It’s quite terrible to have everybody have a bunch of the world’s limited supply of DRAMs sitting in their own computer, and being used 5% of the time. Like, you want maximum utilization."
To sum up today's news:
- Reddit stock is down because of AI answers
- Google stock is down because of AI answers
- Your web traffic is down because of AI answers
Happy to see that worked out well for all parties involved
I just got pitched by an AI agent — who didn’t tell me they were a robot at first.
And only after I asked did they acknowledge their true identity.

Andrew Marchand's coverage of the situation between Joe Buck and Troy Aikman is the closest thing I've read in the style of David Carr's media column in years.
It is a terrific scoop that does not overly sensationalize — it just lays out what happened, according to sources.
Carr's style of source cultivation, breaking news and storytelling is one I've tried to draw inspiration from — to varied degrees of success and failure, I supposed.
But Marchand encapsulates it perfectly, here, in this column.
More of this, please.

I should clarify: I'm not allowed to vote in the primary for any Democratic or Republican candidate for nominee because California has a "closed" primary system — which has been debated for years, but is still in force.
And because I know I'm gonna hear about it from diehard politicos: I vote for the person I think will do the best job. Sometimes, it is the lesser of the two undesirable candidates (seems like that's happening a lot these days). I tend to look for the most-moderate voices and perspectives. Sometimes, that's someone who is a Democrat (tends to be often) and sometimes it is a Republican (rarer, but does happen). I've voted for both over the years and will continue to do so.
