New Mexico got its name before the country of Mexico even existed. That’s the history this whole “New America” proposal is missing.
Spanish explorers called the region Nuevo México in the 1500s, borrowing the name from the Valley of Mexico around today’s Mexico City.
Mexico only became independent in 1821. Even the United States didn’t exist when New Mexico was named.
Renaming it “New America” would replace a name older than the United States to correct a historical misunderstanding or? 🤷♂️

Disney made over $60 million selling Black Widow on Disney+ during its opening weekend, while Scarlett Johansson’s biggest bonuses depended on theatrical box office.
Same movie, two revenue streams, and a contract written around one of them.
Marvel’s own lawyer had warned in 2019 that changing the release plan meant discussing her deal.
That’s why Disney revealing her $20 million upfront salary never settled the argument. Studios can change how they distribute a movie. Actors need contracts that protect how they get paid.
In 2021, Scarlett Johansson sued Disney over Black Widow's Disney+ release, which reportedly could have cost her $50 million. Disney responded that it had already paid her $20 million.
In the clip below, she tells CBS why she wasn't afraid to sue. "I felt right in my stance."
She had played Black Widow since 2010 and pushed for a solo film for years. Her pay depended largely on the box office.
The film came out on July 9, 2021, in theaters and on Disney+ at the same time. After a strong opening, ticket sales fell 67% the next weekend.
Her suit said the contract promised an exclusive theatrical release, and that Disney gave up box office to grow Disney+ and save on her bonuses.
Disney called the suit meritless and said it showed "callous disregard" for the effects of the pandemic. The contract, Disney said, only required a wide release, and the film played on more than 9,000 US screens.
In September 2021, they settled. Deadline, citing unnamed sources, reported more than $40 million. Both sides said they would keep working together.
In April 2026, she told CBS: "Sometimes you feel a little kind of lonely in the fight." She added: "I can shoulder the burden."
People have since told her the case changed how they negotiate their contracts.
So did Disney grow Disney+ at the cost of her paycheck, or did she sue over a promise her contract never made?

Studios used to handle much of the promotion and distribution. OnlyFans now has over 5 million registered creator accounts competing for attention, with $7.84 billion in fan payments in 2025.
The veterans can criticize the viral stunts, but the business model gives creators every incentive to stand out.

Takehara retired with a 24-1 professional record and a world middleweight title.
The producers could manufacture all the drama they wanted. They just happened to cast someone who genuinely knew how to fight.
