That was the sitting state representative, on the record, pushing back on a bill built around two sexes. Now he's the Democrats' Senate candidate, and the story has changed. In a September Fox News interview, Talarico said he had "𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤" on the six-sexes claim and now says there are two. On the God remark, he has said only that he was being provocative. Fox News and Mediaite both reported the walk-back, and he has also shifted on transgender athletes in girls' sports.
