Another crazy Greg Schiano stat as Rutgers coach… GS has been a 10+ point underdog 60 times (!!) in 18 seasons as RU HC, he has exactly ONE (1) win (2020 Purdue) straight up 1-59 as a 10+ point underdog. @philsteele042 did a study & found 10+ pt underdogs win ~11% of games SU

Checks out, Curry knows ball. Never wrong, just early.
I remember saying UMass should hire Chesney when he was a first year head coach at Holy Cross. We hired Walt Bell instead. Anyway, by the time Bell was canned three years later the word was that Chesney wasn’t interested because we didn’t care enough about football. The weird thing is that, fan wise, we probably care more than UCLA.

Aaron (as usual) nails it here. Well said. Being a fan for this program feels like (apologies for the overdramatization) being a refugee yearning for a home that no longer exists.
The biggest thing for me when evaluating Rutgers football & Greg Schiano is the program’s identity is gone. The defense used to be able to win games like today. You could expect a certain competency on defense & special teams that would swing games. Development & identity = MIA

After yesterday’s loss to UM, Greg Schiano now falls to 7-35 straight up when he’s an underdog of more than a FG (ie 3.5 pts or more) in the 2.0 era as Rutgers HC. Since 2022, that record is 4-24. Less than 1 win a year as more than a FG underdog per year the last 5 seasons.

Unrelated but who was the guy that built the coach database that has all their connections etc? Federman? For some reason I just got really interested in seeing which 1st/2nd year lower-tier P5 coaches could make a vertical leap and which big jobs they could be targets at

A disastrous first half for the Scarlet Knights, who are down 28-6 at the midpoint. Some notes… - Dylan Lonergan unfortunately just can’t stay healthy. I’d consider just sitting him for his own health moving forward after what looks to be his 3rd concussion this year 🧵

- Our OL play has been arguably even more of a mess than the defense. Surace is jittery as it is and with awful protection we can’t move the ball through the air - How was this QB competition close for as long as it was? It’s night and day between these two guys

- Overall, I just find it really hard to keep winding myself to watch this team. There’s no reason this team should be THIS bad. Rutgers has regressed several years in a row while essentially every other peer B1G program has gotten better. Something has to change.

It’s gonna be a LONG day if this Rutgers defense can’t clean up… basically everything over the next three quarters. Rutgers is now down 14-3 with 1:32 left in the 1st quarter

The carousel has officially kicked off for the 2026 season. Maryland fans, time to check Coaching Ties to see who might make sense as the next coach of the Terps… coachingties.com
Sources: Maryland coach Mike Locksley has been dismissed. Maryland dropped to 2-5 on Saturday after a last-second loss to Rutgers. Locksley is 39-54 overall at Maryland, including his interim stint in 2015. Maryland is on a bye this week.

What a wild afternoon at MSG. Interesting 60 minutes of hoops. @RutgersMBB & St. John’s left everything out there in a fun preseason experience. I’ll hop on with @MikeBbent & the @RutgersOn3 crew (@On3Richie? @AlecCr12?) tonight to talk about ‘26-‘27. #Rutgers #TheKnighthood
Learned something new today. Quadruple OT practice games are permitted. The madness continues!

Rutgers holds on 37-30 to win in College Park against Maryland. RU's defense did everything they could to try and give that game away in the final 5 minutes. Rutgers has such a unique ability to make even a win feel like a loss
