Why bother with an all new battleship, just refit the Iowa class with reactors and with some help from Japan… a wave motion gun! 😎

Was on Grok exploring some asteroid interdiction ideas and realized that a moon and/or Mars base multiplies the interdiction strategies many times. Orbital position, speed, gravity.

I saw the vid (WAI?) where there was mention of a pipeline from Boca Chica to the nearby port for methane transport. In-line to that could be a chemical plant that generates methane using technology from Sierra Energy. Landfills pay you to dispose of garbage and you get rocket fuel as a by product. sierraenergy.com/company/abo…

I am wondering if the Boring company could build or assist in building oil pipelines that would allow the straight of Hormuz to be mostly circumvented.

2 observed distinctions between the government and million / billionaires for those that want to tax them. Government programs are grossly inefficient, and some even measure success by how much of your tax money they spend. With the billionaire every dollar better be pulling its weight or it gets reassigned. “The best part is no part”. The government is on a reelection cycle, two years into a project a different president or congress a decide to mess with the funding and kill the program. The billionaire isn’t (necessarily) ruled by whims, if the project is making progress they can ignore idiots and naysayers. I recall watching one of the early starship launches, both booster and rocket got to the upper atmosphere and blew up. The media were hyperventilating “omg it blew up!” While SpaceX was celebrating - I successfully cleared the pad. The next time you consider taxing people, do that while waiting in line at the DMV.

Was watching “three scientists on the origins of everything” piped.video/JW9gcjpt89o I’ll start by saying that I make great effort to swerve away from us humans are the center of anything, but… 🤔 Given the astronomical improbability that other life might be out there presented in the video, the visitation of our planet by aliens is about as likely as us humble (or hubris?) humans are the progenitor race, what civilizations a million years from now will call “the ancient ones”.

So a rethinking: what if Dyson and Kardashev were half right, it’s not just about the energy but about the computes. The Dyson swarm are AI satellites acting in clusters. Distributed computing on a planetary or solar system scale. There is your Matrioshka brain.

Add on a radio telescope bundle to each satellite and now we are looking at a very long baseline array that can process the data in real time. 1000 of these are reasonable and could do some serious work on dark matter, exoplanets, and SETI at the same time. Dyson-Grok swarms. 😎

Ok, low cost wholesome food challenge, and maybe we can help some people out. Given: my costs based off Cali prices, access to Costco warehouse shopping. Chicken Veggie Stir-Fry (~$1.91 per serving) 0.25 lb chicken thigh 0.5 lb fresh mixed vegetables from farmers market) dry rice ¼ can diced tomatoes

Bean & Egg Tomato Stew (Shakshuka-style) over Rice (~$2.69 per serving) • 2 eggs ($0.33) • ½ can diced tomatoes ($0.65) • ½ can beans (black/kidney) ($0.65) • 0.5 lb fresh mixed vegetables (e.g., green beans, peppers, or whatever is in season) ($1.00) • 0.1 lb dry rice ($0.06) That’s a complete meal for about same price of a bag of chips…

So I pasted a data set into ChatGPT and asked it to find the wavelength and amplitude of the 3 sine waves hidden it there. In 3 seconds it gave me a completely wrong answer. I hinted that it was a trick question and it doubled down on its wrong answer.

I did the exact same with Grok. It found 2 of the waves in 4 seconds at ~80% accuracy. Then for 4 minutes it looked like 2 of the agents had a wwf cage match and gave a passing answer. When I gave the same hint IT NAILED all 3 SPOT ON in like 2 seconds. Grock rocks!

Why am I kinda stuck atm on the concept of a big wheel space station? You can make chips that are 10x faster than current A series but use 1/10 the power there. And the AI satellites that use them. A refuel station for Starships going to the moon or Mars. And more….

So what can you do with a 500m radius von Braun Space station? Test long duration space habitation of 1000+ people at a time. Test Mars equipment at Martian gravity levels. Make ZBLAN optical fiber factory. Make exotic alloys, foamed metal. Semiconductors. Telescope mirrors…
