In the wake of our documentary on NHS antisemitism, more incidents are emerging.
Dr Mazin Fageir, a senior trauma and orthopaedic surgeon and consultant at the Royal Free Hospital in London, has allegedly published hate-filled content online.
One such post from May 2021 appears to depict the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, with stereotypically accentuated facial features, pushing a coffin into what appears to be a Nazi concentration camp oven, above which are the words “Arbeit Macht Frei” – a reference to the sign hanging above the entrance to the Auschwitz concentration camp. The coffin is covered with a Palestinian Authority flag.
According to the International (IHRA) Definition of Antisemitism, which the NHS has adopted, “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis” is an example of antisemitism.
Another alleged post published by Dr Fageir, marking the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, was apparently a repost of an AI image purporting to show Orthodox Jewish men celebrating outside the Twin Towers. This echoes a shameful antisemitic conspiracy theory that Jews were involved in the 9/11 attacks.
As our documentary showed, this sort of obscene rhetoric has become dangerously normalised in the NHS, where medical practitioners and staff are fostering a hostile environment for Jewish people.
Hate in healthcare is spiralling out of control, and employers and regulators are asleep at the wheel.
