Plot twist I found in the @RaidLords handbook on raidlords.com: your own attack ends your shield.
A new village starts with a 24-hour shield. Get raided hard and you earn one back: 12 hours at 30% destroyed, 14 at 60%, 16 at 90%.
But the moment you launch your own raid, the shield drops. And if someone hits you, you get a free revenge raid for 24 hours.
My take: the shield is a choice, not a gift. Rest and rebuild, or break it for revenge while they are still celebrating?
