A year ago, @JNelsonLDF urged the Supreme Court to uphold equal representation for Black voters in Louisiana v. Callais. Despite their decision to destroy the VRA, under Janai’s leadership and expertise, LDF has spent the last year ensuring Black voters are counted.

#UnitedStates: The case of Christa Pike lays bare multiple reasons why the death penalty should be abolished. The prolonged suffering – physical and mental – arising from multiple failed execution attempts is abhorrent, and cruel. And there are key fair trial questions still unresolved.
UN Human Rights Chief @volker_turk calls on the state authorities not to pursue any further attempt to execute Pike.
We are also troubled by the increase in the number of executions in the United States.
