As response efforts continue on the
#HawkFire, the Nevada Office of Emergency Management is proud to support our local, state, Tribal, federal and international partners working to protect Nevada communities.
During the response, the State Emergency Operations Center moved to full activation, bringing together multiple agencies and partners to coordinate resources and support operations in Washoe County.
State support has included:
• Deploying Nevada OEM liaison officers Zach McCullough and Aaron Thacker to Washoe County to support local operations and coordination.
• Assisting with interpreter services to help make critical information from press conferences accessible to the community.
• Coordinating five ambulances to support emergency medical needs.
• Working with the Governor’s Office to support the State of Nevada emergency declaration for the Hawk Fire.
• Coordinating Nevada National Guard support for aerial firefighting operations and perimeter security.
• Working to provide additional sanitation resources, including restroom trailers, to support sheltering operations at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.
The response to the Hawk Fire has been a truly collaborative effort, extending well beyond Nevada and even beyond the United States. We were honored to work alongside Australian firefighters from the New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), who joined crews from across the United States in supporting the Hawk Fire response.
We are grateful to the firefighters, emergency responders, emergency managers, law enforcement personnel, National Guard members, volunteers and partners from Nevada, across the country and around the world who have worked together throughout this incident.
Nevada OEM will continue supporting Washoe County and our partners as response operations continue.
