This week's Weekly Roundup is out... Burnhing Gas | Train and Simple | Fiscal Attraction The Government gave Jackdaw the green light this week, as Andy Burnham found time between decisions on Britain’s energy future to tackle the equally weighty matter of someone playing TikToks aloud on the train. From North Sea drilling to the quiet carriage, no brief is apparently too big or too small. But with the Budget coming next week, all eyes now turn to the Chancellor – whose announcements may prove rather harder to greet with a polite request to turn it down. And do Budget's impact the polls? Head over to our website the find out what @electionmapsuk found looking at what the last six Chancellors' Budgets did to their Government's standings amongst the public. Spoiler alert: it's much easier to do wrong than right...

MPs returned from conference recess this week, and @andyburnham wasted little time taking everyone back to 2016, reopening the Brexit argument with a podcast answer on Russian interference – just as preparations for November’s UK-EU summit get under way. The PM also welcomed Ukrainian President Zelenskyy to Downing Street, as Donald Trump appeared to lose interest in welcoming Ukraine anywhere. And for anyone who thought Parliament’s return meant the conference circuit was finally over, spare a thought for those colleagues still going at @theSNP in Aberdeen… Head over to our website for your free Friday Weekly Roundup brought to you in partnership with @electionmapsuk

📨 With conference season in full swing, the race for media attention and column inches is full speed ahead this week. @EdwardJDavey wrapped up the Liberal Democrats gathering in Brighton with promises of tax cuts and closer ties to Europe, after warning about “dark forces” at play; @andyburnham headed to New York for his UN debut and first face-to-face encounter with Donald Trump; and the Prime Minister has ended the week by putting himself through four hours of back-to-back interviews with 27 regional broadcasters. All of which is merely the warm-up. The Labour Party conference starts this weekend, giving Burnham his biggest domestic political test since entering Downing Street. In an office made up of diehard @BHAFC, @Arsenal, @CoventryCityFC and @Boro fans... the lone @Everton fan getting this pic past the rest of the team was no mean feat this week... This week's Weekly Roundup is now out... Crypto-nite | TUC That | Fit for Office: It’s been another perfectly normal week in British politics, featuring £72bn in donations to Reform, warnings that AI could eventually kill us all, and – naturally – an inordinate amount of parliamentary interest in the SexyMP website (see @electionmapsuk's excellent analysis on that one in the full roundup). Donald Trump found time to offer his thoughts on the future of Northern Ireland, whilst Angela Rayner entertained the TUC with a few jokes at Wes Streeting’s expense. And if all that wasn’t enough, Parliament has now packed up for conference season, with the Liberal Democrats first out of the blocks this weekend. 🔍 Search 'Weekly Roundup' on Google and you'll find it - we're at the top. Absolutely fascinating research from @electionmapsuk in our Weekly Roundup this week on the election alphabetical advantage... We were aware of the phenomenon but to see it in this clear detail and so starkly set out in an analysis of almost 9,000 candidates across all 679 London council wards in May this year is quite spectacular. Huge credit to @mattftommo for crunching the numbers on this and setting it out so brilliantly. This is why we wanted to partner with Matt and Election Maps UK. To be able to help bring this sort of analysis to our Weekly Roundup audience is a genuine privilege!

Our latest Weekly Roundup with @electionmapsuk is out! Milibanned | Healey Does It | Councilled Plans Ed Miliband wasted little time making his mark as Foreign Sec this week, announcing a major shift in the Government’s approach to Israel and Palestine; John Healey used his first big outing as Chancellor to promise to make “Great Britain, Growth Britain again” – with a healthy dose of devolution thrown in for good measure; and elsewhere, the Government was forced into something of a reorganisation of its local government reorganisation plans… Feels like everyone is ready for another four weeks of recess. 📨 Our latest Weekly Roundup with @electionmapsuk is out... Starmed Off | Bay(eux) Watch | Falk in the road With the Bayeux Tapestry returning to the UK, a visit from President Macron and a marathon ‘get to know me’ session in the Commons planned, Burnham must have felt confident he had the attention of the political class this week. However, the shock resignation of his defeated foe, a Tory reshuffle and a good old-fashioned sting against Reform upended his best-laid plans – let alone the Falkland Islands dispute reasserting itself. Good Times Andy had best get used to this…  Also check out @electionmapsuk's latest analysis of the 32 council by-elections that have taken place since May to find who's up and who's down. @andyburnham's first international visit this week was to Ukraine, and he didn't go empty-handed, announcing the UK has offered Kyiv the blueprints to key parts of the Anglo-French Storm Shadow missiles. As Westminster gears up for an action-packed fortnight in Parliament – including the PM’s first foray at the dispatch box since he resigned as Shadow Home Secretary exactly 10 years ago – his new ministerial team could be facing a record number of Urgent Questions next week after an eventful August. 📨 Our latest #WeeklyRoundup is out, and this week includes our new Looking Abroad section, providing a summary of ministerial comings and goings over the past week and setting out which foreign leaders, ministers and dignitaries they’ve been in contact with and what they chatted about. ⚽ And that's not all... with the @premierleague back with a bang this week, @electionmapsuk have dived into the data on England’s top 92 football clubs and who represents them… Head over the our website to sign up and receive our Weekly Roundup in your inbox every Friday, for free. #Westminster #Parliament #publicaffairs Photo © Imago / Alamy Stock Photo

🗑️ What a load of rubbish... The Navigate Politics weekly roundup is out! As quiet summer recess weeks go in the new era of non-stop government announcements, this is about as good as it’s going to get. Read the full edition on our website including new polling day weather insights from @electionmapsuk , and a deep dive into John Healey ahead of the forthcoming Budge.
