What a shameful thing to say for someone whose job is to shape the ecosystem. ERL's hit new lows year after year, biggest orgs are pulling out citing insufficient structure. Players retire en masse, because they can't survive. Either blatant ignorance or incompetence, unsure.

Closing applications in around 30 hours (Monday (12:01am). Last chance is now. 70+ applications already in, some of the first candidates have already been contacted yesterday, the next batch will be contacted on Monday.

Recently I green lit a deal with an esports org without almost any key terms confirmed. The org was in rush, needed to move quickly, both sides committed verbally, we said "Let's make this happen, get the paperwork ready, we figure out terms later" And we did, with no prior history, just off of a gut feeling that we'll come to an agreement one way or another. Was the first one of that kind for me in my 10 years-long esports journey. Don't know what it is, but it somehow makes me feel good, knowing there are still people in the industry whose objective isn't to fuck you over, but to actually work things out 🫡

Hope events like LEC Versus and the format of VCT EMEA will stay a permanent addition to the calendar. In VCT 4/4 Tier 2 teams qualified for the tournament are still in the run, possibly all 4 with a chance to make it to playoffs or even Champions, eliminating several T1 orgs.

LoL Esports Offseason Project: After the success of last year's project, I'm slowly beginning to conceptualize this year's format. Leaning more towards a rookie-style project this time around as many top players will be engaged in EMEA & ENC. Would there be demand? 👀

Throwback to that one org I worked for a few years ago that randomly decided not to pay rent for their facility/office and one morning some players and I woke up to the sound of the building admin changing locks & telling us we need to get out, on a match day. Love esports

After nearly a month in Asia, I have to say it is genuinely amazing to see people genuinely hyped about esports It is recognized and regulated across the whole region, incl gov support Community is incredible Non-endemic brands are excited & want to be involved Refreshing

CS has for years had probably the best esports ecosystem. it was so good in fact, even in the middle of esports winter orgs were willing to spend millions on a VRS core. One goofy decision caused the ecosystem revenue to take a dive, both for teams and for Valve itself. Here's to hoping they revert that before Singapore.

PSA for all the esports players out there: If you wanna date, 2 important rules that will serve you well: 1. Don't be weird, abide by basic human standards, ain't that difficult; 2. Date irl, outside of esports/gaming - esports "gamer girls" is not the way you want to go.

The hobby AWPer journey ends here. Last couple of months have been quite draining for Simon, having to fit into a completely new role with close to no preparation. We decided that taking a step back to recharge & wait for the right opportunity is the right move.
