Who says you need the biggest AI models to build 3D worlds? img2threejs turns a single image into a fully editable Three.js scene. But the tool is only half the story. The heavy lifting is done by the vision-language model behind it. That model has to: → read the image and understand layout, depth, objects and materials → turn what it sees into working Three.js code → look at its own render, spot what's off, and fix it Most people assume only frontier models can handle that. So I plugged in AntLing Flash VL 3.0 with img2environment, an upcoming plugin for img2threejs. ( This plugin will be released on Monday Oct 12 ) It held up better than I expected: 1. Picks up spatial layout and depth reliably from a single image 2. Writes clean, structured Three.js and TypeScript you can actually edit 3. Catches its own mistakes by comparing each render against the original 4. Does all of this at a fraction of frontier-model cost The trade-off: it needs a few more refinement passes to get there. But every pass is cheap, and the final scene is solid and fully yours to modify. I believe AI-powered 3D development shouldn't depend on how much you can afford to spend on tokens. If you're curious, plug AntLing Flash VL 3.0 into img2threejs and see what it builds. Here's what I got 👇

This was ONE image. Now you can walk into it. ❄️ Not just the cabin. Not just the character. The whole scene. Hyper3D × img2threejs × Three.js × GPT-6 Luna The workflow starts with a picture of a world. img2threejs analyzes what’s inside: the house, trees, rocks, character, and their arrangement. Hyper3D provides the 3D references. GPT-6 works through the img2threejs pipeline to reconstruct the objects and bring them together in Three.js, rebuilding the scene with depth, lighting, and interactions. But recreating the picture is only the beginning. Walk around the cabin and leave footprints in the snow. Open the gate. Turn day into night. Place a campfire and watch the world take on a different atmosphere. You’re no longer limited to the moment or camera angle captured in the original image. This isn’t just making a picture move. It’s rebuilding what’s inside it into a world you can explore, edit, and keep building. One image sets the scene. You decide what happens next. GPT-6 × img2threejs v2.2 GPT-6 launched while I was halfway through building img2threejs 2.2, so I ran an early comparison between Luna, Sol, and Astra. Same reference image. Same prompt. Same unfinished pipeline. Skill: github.com/img2threejs/img2t… “Use the img2-environment skill to recreate the room from this reference image: [link]” v2.2 is currently around 50% complete, but the differences in how each model interprets the same scene are already clear. Sol’s visual understanding stood out to me in this test. The goal for v2.2 is to push reference-to-scene fidelity as close to 99% as possible.

GPT-6 launched right in the middle of building img2threejs v2.2. As its creator, I had to test Luna, Sol, and Astra using the same image, the same prompt, and the same unfinished pipeline. img2threejs v2.2 is only 50% complete, but Sol’s visual understanding genuinely surprised me. A single image became a fully animated 3D character built as editable Three.js code. Sora and Roxas just arrived in Fortnite, so I rebuilt both with img2threejs. One compatible rig - Two characters - 44 shared animations. They can switch mid-animation without resetting the motion, then export to GLB for reuse in Blender. Image → code → reusable 3D. Riku or Kairi next?

One prompt / One complete 3D model / ~5% of my weekly quota. Built with img2threejs + Hyper3D MCP + Luna Extra High on the Codex 5x plan. No GLB and the entire model is TypeScript, which means I can keep editing it, adding VFX, and building animations directly in code. Astra has been getting a lot of hype lately, and honestly, it deserves it. Beautiful results, creative ideas, fast execution. But in my experience, it can burn through quota just as quickly. In one showcase experiment, I used up my entire weekly quota on the 5x plan in about 1 hours. 🥲 Not everyone has that much quota to spare. And getting a good-looking model that fits your needs shouldn’t always require the most powerful model available. That’s one of the things I’m working on with img2threejs: a workflow that still delivers with less powerful models. Something that looks good, does the job, and doesn’t burn through your budget. This one-prompt showcase is a small example of that. To me, a good skill isn’t just about how impressive the final result looks. It should also help you get there without wasting your quota. Cost efficiency is one part. Making the workflow faster is next. I’m aiming to show you more this Wednesday, September 16, with something I teased earlier: img2threejs Playground. #img2threejs #threejs #hyper3D #guitar

img2threejs turns @Apple 's iPhone Duo references into interactive 3D experiences with ThreeJS. A 2D image can show a product. Interactive 3D lets people rotate it, unfold it, customize it, and understand it before they buy. Live showcase: img2threejs.io/iphone-duo.ht… The img2threejs pipeline makes this practical: 1. Provide product images, proportions, and dimensions 2. Generate an initial 3D study with Hyper3D MCP 3. Use prompts and visual feedback to refine geometry, materials, and details 4. Add custom colors, screens, camera views, interactions, and animations 5. Review everything directly in the browser and continue refining Apple introduced two official iPhone Duo finishes. With img2threejs, I explored four more custom concepts: Sage, Coral, Sand and Lavender. The result feels less like a render, and more like a product people can understand, explore, and love. Full workflow breakdown on YouTube in about an hour. 🚀 #img2threejs #GPT6 #iPhoneDuo #Hyper3D

🔥 img2threejs × GPT-6 Astra × Hyper3D Live showcase: img2threejs.io/#/x/monster-t… This is probably one of the most commercially valuable workflows I’ve tested so far. Image → Hyper3D → img2threejs → GPT-6 Astra → Interactive Three.js experience. 1/ Hyper3D handles the 3D reconstruction. 2/ img2threejs turns that result into a structured workflow that an AI coding model can actually work with. 3/ And GPT-6 Astra follows the img2threejs pipeline - turning the reconstructed asset into a structured, editable, and interactive Three.js experience with animation, VFX, lighting, and application logic. The important part isn’t just generating a 3D model, It’s what happens after the model exists. Instead of ending with a static asset, you can continue building around it with code: → Games → Interactive product experiences → 3D websites → Character showcases → Virtual worlds → Rapid prototypes 3D generation becomes the beginning of the workflow - not the final output. And when you combine high-quality reconstruction with an AI model capable of understanding and building the surrounding experience, the path from image → 3D → usable product becomes dramatically shorter. This is exactly the direction I want to push img2threejs. More experiments with @OpenAI GPT-6 Astra × @DeemosTech are coming this month. 👨‍🍳

A BIG update for img2threejs. It’s been almost 2 months since I launched img2threejs. After a lot of experiments, feedback, and seeing where people struggle, I realized there are some changes we simply have to make if we want this project to go much further. So here’s what’s changing: / 01 / A new ROADMAP: from one pipeline → a plugin-able ecosystem This is the biggest change. Reconstruction, environments, rigging, animation, VFX/SFX, exporters, providers… shouldn’t be locked inside one giant workflow. The goal is to make img2threejs modular: use what you need, replace what you don’t, build your own workflow, and eventually your own plugins. I believe this is the right foundation for img2threejs to grow from an open-source project into an ecosystem. Read the new Roadmap → github.com/img2threejs/img2t… / 02 / Playground The simplest way to use img2threejs: upload an image → wait ~10 minutes → get your 3D asset. Export to different 3D formats or directly to pure Three.js code. / 03 / Studio This is for those who want full control. Watch img2threejs build in real time: Nano → Texture → Rigging → Animation → VFX/SFX → Export. Configure, inspect, and control the workflow instead of only receiving the final result. / 04 / A new Landing Page Cleaner, easier, and actually more useful. You’ll be able to copy prompts directly, explore examples, and export assets for Blender or your own workflow. I’m trying to wrap up as much of the annoying work as possible animation, rigging, textures, exporters, so you can focus on building. / 05 / Official YouTube Many of you have asked how these showcases are actually built, and X simply isn’t the right place for a 20–40 minute walkthrough haha. I’ll start sharing full step-by-step workflows, experiments, tutorials, and project updates here: YouTube → piped.video/@hoainho1465 And one more thing… Tomorrow at 13:00 UTC - img2threejs × GPT-6 Astra. A new exclusive showcase is coming. I’ve spent enough time with img2threejs that I thought it was getting difficult to surprise myself anymore, but this one did. To everyone who tested img2threejs, contributed code, reported bugs, shared feedback, created something with it, sponsored us, became a partner, or simply told me to keep going - thank you, truly. A lot of what you see in this new direction comes directly from those conversations. We’re still very early, and there’s still a ridiculous amount of work ahead, but I’m really excited about where this is going. If you’re building in AI, 3D, graphics, or creative tools and this direction makes sense to you, I’d love to connect. Maybe we can build something together haha. I turned Raz from @ArenaofValor into an animated 3D character running directly in Three.js. 🔥🥊 This is my latest showcase for img2threejs v1.5.2 - and the new version is officially out. Image → TripoAI or Hyper3D → Rigging → Animation → VFX → Three.js. For this demo, I wanted to push beyond simply reconstructing a character. Raz needed to actually FEEL like Raz: explosive punches, fast movement, combat animation, and the fiery VFX around his attacks. The entire workflow was built through the img2threejs pipeline, turning visual references into a character that can be controlled, animated, and extended directly in code. And the best part: img2threejs v1.5.2 is available now. You can try the same pipeline yourself and see how far you can push AI-assisted 3D character creation for Three.js and WebGL. Open source. A single 2D image → a 110,745-triangle 3D monster with 27 animations, running live in the browser. This is the Abyss Monster, built with img2threejs: img2threejs.io The workflow: Image → 3D Reconstruction → Reference GLB + Specs → Rig → Animation Loops → VFX → Interactive Three.js 🔥 Inside this demo: 1/ 110,745 triangles reconstructed from the reference image 2/ 27 animation clips - Spin Flurry, Leap & Stomp, Charge, Collapse & more 3/ Reference-driven rig & animation workflow 4/ Dynamic lighting 5/ Real-time floating ember VFX 6/ Interactive WebGL character What I find most interesting is the workflow itself. The character and scene are built through a multi-prompt workflow, using visual references, GLB specs and animation loops to progressively construct the Three.js experience. Then, for the VFX, I used a single focused prompt to create the floating ember effect and integrate it into the scene. The final result is Three.js + TypeScript code - turning a visual reference into a programmable, interactive web experience. Turn a single 2D image into a fully interactive, animated 3D character - running directly in your browser.🥊 This is the Ringside Boxer, built with img2threejs v1.5.1. Live showcase: img2threejs.io/#/x/boxing-ma… 2D Image → 3D Reconstruction (TripoAI/Hyper3D) → Reference GLB + Specs → Rig & Animation Setup → Animation Loops → Physics VFX → Playable Three.js Scene ( 100% pure typescript ) 🔥 Under the hood: • ~97.5K triangle 3D reconstruction • 41-bone character rig • 19 combat animation clips • Jab, Hook, Body Shot, Footwork, Victory, Defeat & more • Physics-based sweat particles with gravity • Impact shock-ring VFX • Fully interactive 360° orbit + zoom And the important part: 1. The final result is generated as pure Three.js + TypeScript code. 2. No traditional 3D authoring workflow. 3. No Blender setup. 4. I’ve wanted to build this for a while. Lee Sin was my favorite champion back in middle school. 😂 So when I started pushing img2threejs 1.5.1 beyond just generating 3D models, he was the obvious choice. img2threejs 1.5.1 is out 🚀 Checkout: github.com/img2threejs/img2t… This release introduces a new approach to image → 3D → Three.js. Image → Tripo → img2threejs → reconstructed geometry → Three.js Instead of using the generated 3D model as the final asset, img2threejs uses it as a reference to rebuild the character into a representation that can be generated and rendered directly in Three.js. No Blender workflow, and no GLB required as the final output. The animation in the demo is still a bit rough because this release is focused on reconstruction, not animation. I’ll be improving that in the next release. Still experimental, but this is a big step toward where I want img2threejs to go.

I’ve been testing with Claude Opus 5 and GPT Sol High + Luna Max - this particular demo is running on Luna Max. This isn’t a release post. 😄 I’m starting to plan img2threejs v1.5, and this time I want to tackle one of the hardest challenges so far: characters. Not just generating something that looks like a character, but producing clean, editable, animation-ready Three.js code with proper hierarchy and structure. It’s a much bigger challenge than hard-surface objects, and honestly… I’m not even sure where the limits are yet. So I’d love to hear your thoughts: - What would you want from character support? - What are the biggest pain points with today’s image-to-3D tools? - If img2threejs could do one thing really well for characters, what should it be? Also… one more thing. 😅 Building v1.5 is slowly draining my API credits. At this rate, the reconstruction pipeline might finish after my wallet gives up. If anyone has experience getting open-source sponsorship or API credits from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or other AI providers, I’d really appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance, and yes, this post is basically me asking for feedback (and maybe a little token-saving wisdom). 😂 #img2threejs

This demo was generated with: ✅ 1 prompt ✅ ~240K tokens ✅ Fully procedural Three.js model Reference: 3d.cs.money/item/52037756975… Weapons were the #1 request from the community, so v1.4 is dedicated to making them look as good as possible. The full changelog is coming soon. 💬 Discord: discord.gg/8DS8RTyuR I’ll publish the prompt there before the release. ⭐ GitHub: github.com/img2threejs/img2t… Vote in Discord if you want to decide what img2threejs should focus on next. #img2threejs #tradeit #cs2 #threejs

I’ve been reading every comment about img2threejs, and one thing stood out: Weapons are by far the most requested category. So I decided to make img2threejs v1.4 the weapon-focused release. 🔫 1 prompt → ~240K tokens → one highly detailed procedural model. Opensource Skill: github.com/img2threejs/img2t… The showcase below was generated from a single prompt, using this CS2 skin as the reference: 3d.cs.money/item/52037756975… I’m wrapping up the changelog now. Join our Discord! discord.gg/8DS8RTyuR I’ll share the exact prompt used for this showcase there first. If you want the next img2threejs release to focus on another category, vote in Discord, I’ll build what the community wants. 🚀 #img2threejs #tradeit #cs2

img2threejs v1.3 is now available. 🎋 One photo → procedural Three.js code. No meshes. No manual modeling. GitHub: github.com/hoainho/img2three… v1.3 brings major improvements to geometry reconstruction, material generation, validation, and overall output quality. For this demo, I used the reference image of a CS2 ★ M9 Bayonet | Doppler Phase 3: tradeit.gg/csgo/trade?search… If you’re new to img2threejs, now is a great time to try it. If you’ve used it before, I’d love for you to compare the results with previous versions. Feedback, bug reports, and PRs are always welcome.

img2threejs is back. I’m getting ready to ship v1.3. Highlights: - Divine Eye: deterministic render validation before the final VLM review. - Better geometry reconstruction for more accurate 3D shapes. - Photo-grounded PBR materials instead of generic guesses. - Stronger reference validation. - Faster generation with smarter caching. These improvements were originally planned for v2.0, but the scope kept growing, so I decided to split the release instead of making everyone wait. Here's a demo from v1.3. I’d love your feedback: - Does the output quality look good? - Is there anything missing before I release v1.3? - Any issues you notice? If everything looks solid, I’ll publish v1.3 today ( in next 6hour ) v2.0 is still coming. I’m taking extra time to test and polish it to make sure it delivers the best quality possible.
