I was curious to see whether Raven (@GeospyAI ) could geolocate a photo.
The result? Incredibly accurate.
AI is changing how online evidence is analyzed. Raven isnโt publicly available but I was given access to test it and its capabilities are both impressive and eye-opening!

A few years ago, OSINT meant a laptop, curiosity, and no rulebook.
Now: proctored exams, documented hands-on hours, and a UN-backed protocol (Berkeley) defining what "ethical" even means in this field.
The skillset didn't change. The stakes did.

In a recent talk, I shared career lessons on thriving in the OSINT space.
2 themes stood out from my journey:
1๏ธโฃ Setting clear intentions and following them with action.
2๏ธโฃ Letting consistency, not just motivation, be the driving force.
It was such a pleasure chatting with Jane van Tienen and Kylie Pert from @osintcombine on the Open Secret podcast. Huge thanks to both of you for taking the time to speak with me!

To turn information into intelligence, you need to analyze it, add context, and connect it to a real question or need.

I was trying to validate a video by doing a reverse image search with a simple screenshot, but it didnโt work. Thatโs when I discovered a better methodโusing the videoโs thumbnail for the reverse search.
I used the Fake News Debunker add-on by InVID & WeVerify, which allows you to extract and reverse search thumbnails from YouTube videos. This simple technique helped me locate the original version of the video, proving it wasnโt new. The first upload was from a different user over a year ago.
๐ป๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ถ๐บ๐ฐ๐ต๐ป ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐:ย Donโt rely solely on screenshots. Extracting video thumbnails can provide more accurate results in reverse searches and help you trace the true origin of the content more effectively.
