Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the 3rd largest cause of human mortalities. Using genomics, Assoc Prof @OTooleRonan & collaborators have shown that NTHi strains that worsen COPD can now be differentiated genetically from non-COPD strains. bit.ly/2OYrKFc

It’s World Tuberculosis Day. Dr Ronan O’Toole and collaborators have shown that multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (TB) can reach Australia in a dormant state, subsequently reactivating. Their findings may help prevent antibiotic resistant TB in Australia. bit.ly/2O7dzMB
