Executing the backhand toss….. The key is the infielder needs to keep a stiff wrist, so he does not flip the ball like a pinball machine… stiff wrist keeps the flip out of it and creates consistent accuracy….say “Hi” upon the release.. fingers “up “ makes the toss go uphill

When an infielder makes a play where he is out of control, bounce the throw. This ensures the ball can be caught…The worst that can happen is the runner is safe at 1b and DP is still in play…trying to make the long perfect throw could lead to an overthrow or an in between hop

Infield in Rundown 1. Fielder gets the ball up, runs inside baseline and forces runner to HP 2. Catcher holds his ground and receives throw 3. He gets the ball up inside baseline and forces runner to commit 4. SS covering vacated 3b, reads the commit and runs to meet throw

Runner attempting steal of 2b..fly ball to CF ⁦@JRODshow44⁩-SS ⁦@jp_crawford⁩ knows where the ball is but never looks to CF, instead he bluffs DP Pivot getting the runner to slide-resulting in a DP “Little Things” that do not show up in a box score, but helps win games

Feeds to back of 2b Protection…contrary to belief, you can still break up a DP… poor feeds to the 1b side of 2b can result in 2bman not being able to get the relay throw off by avoiding the baserunner… or actually being “taken out”

When a ball takes a bad hop or is “booted” the infielder sprints to the ball.. arrange your feet where you pick the ball off your right using your WHOLE hand.

Teaching Point-toughest catch for a 1bman is the one farthest from his glove “Anchor” at the corner away from your glove-RH back inside-LH front inside-eliminates excess movement-catch to glove side easier, stay there or slide and receive ⁦@Mariners⁩ ⁦@tylock13⁩ #6fs

Teaching Point… when an infielder is “out of control” he should bounce the throw… This gives the 1bman a chance to catch the ball cleanly… trying to make the perfect throw often results in a tough in between hop or an over throw ⁦@ribliss2⁩
