The Pennsylvania Legislative Correspondents' Association — Representing reporters in the Keystone State's Capitol and fostering the next generation of reporters
In honor of legendary journalist John Baer, the Pennsylvania Legislative Correspondents Association has renamed its summer journalism internship program.
It's now the John Baer Legislative Reporting Internship, where student journalists get to work for 12 weeks every summer in the Capitol alongside the professional reporting corps that covers it daily.
It's a paid internship, supported by donations and volunteerism.
You can support future interns in honor of John, who spent many years helping to fundraise for the program one former intern called "an experience you can brag about, and I certainly have."
Here is where you can donate:

I vehemently believe this is one of the best internships in the country. By far my best professional experience that was made ten time more fun because of the awesome and talented reporters of the PLCA. Apply!

"Being treated like a professional, full-time journalist is the best part of this internship — it gave me the confidence and skills I needed to grow as a journalist, and helped me land a full-time job once the summer ended." — 2021 intern @lindsay_weber_pacapitolreporters.org/pacap…
I did this internship this past summer and can't recommend it enough. I learned so much about statehouse reporting and worked with fantastic people. It helped me get my start at the Morning Call, too.
Apply apply! And DM if you have questions!

Last Friday was my final day as a reporting intern with @PLCAReporters. I had a great summer reporting on Pennsylvania politics & can't thank my editors and fellow reporters enough.
I'm excited to announce what's next soon🤠
The #PAbudget might be done, but journalists –– such as @PLCAReporters –– continue to cover key issues that inform the public. While educating us, they're educating the next generation of reporters. I'm proud to support their scholarship program. Support the future of journalism.
