Understanding how malaria is identified and managed in communities can help inform how frontline healthcare is strengthened. In Bungoma, Community Health Promoters are using HealthPulse AI to support the interpretation of malaria test results as they attend to people in their communities. Through these frontline interactions, the Febrile Illness Study is examining how digital decision-support fits into community-level malaria care and where service delivery could be strengthened. Funded by Medic Afya, the study is generating evidence to inform malaria surveillance and case management, helping PS Kenya contribute to a stronger evidence base for community health services. As the study continues, its findings will help clarify how digital innovation can support frontline health workers and inform more responsive malaria care. #PSKenya #MedicAfya #Malaria #HealthPulseAI #DigitalHealth #CommunityHealth

BEHIND EVERY PERSON RECEIVING CARE IS SOMEONE WHO NEEDS SUPPORT TOO. Caregivers play an essential role in the health and wellbeing of individuals, families and communities. Supporting those who provide care helps build healthier families, stronger communities and better wellbeing for all. Let’s recognise care. Let’s support those who provide it. #InternationalDayOfCareAndSupport #Caregivers #Wellbeing

Young people’s feedback can help health facilities identify what is working and where their services need to improve. Through Tiko, PS Kenya supports private health facilities in the Tunza network to assess client satisfaction and identify opportunities to make sexual and reproductive health services more responsive to young people’s needs. Client satisfaction across the Tiko-supported network stands at more than 90%. This provides an important measure of young people’s reported experiences and a basis for tracking service quality alongside clinical standards. By incorporating client feedback into quality improvement, PS Kenya helps facilities identify where they are meeting young people’s expectations and where further changes are needed to strengthen the experience of care. #PSKenya #Tiko #Tunza #ClientExperience #YouthFriendlyServices

Knowing what you want for your future matters. So, does having the knowledge and confidence to make decisions that help you get there. Through A360 Fest, girls reflect on what they have learned about their sexual and reproductive health, personal development and goal-setting, connecting this knowledge to the choices they make in their everyday lives. Understanding their health needs helps girls make informed decisions about relationships and wellbeing, while goal-setting encourages them to think about what they want to achieve and the steps needed to get there. These are practical skills that help girls approach their futures with greater clarity and take an active role in decisions that affect them. Through A360, PS Kenya puts girls’ aspirations at the centre, connecting health knowledge with the confidence and decision-making skills they need to pursue their goals. @CIFFchild #PSKenya #A360 #BintiShupavu #AdolescentHealth

For families living far from health facilities, distance can delay access to malaria testing and treatment, putting timely care out of reach. Through Community Case Management of Malaria, PS Kenya supports Community Health Promoters to test people with suspected malaria and provide recommended treatment when infection is confirmed, in line with national guidelines. By bringing testing and treatment closer to underserved communities, PS Kenya helps families access essential malaria services nearer to home, reducing the need to travel long distances to seek care and strengthening access to primary healthcare. When a fever strikes, seek prompt testing from a qualified health provider or trained Community Health Promoter. @GlobalFund @Amref_Worldwide #PSKenya #Malaria #AccessToCare #CommunityHealth

“I had been coughing and had a fever for a while, but I kept telling myself it would go away. I wasn’t sure it was serious enough to visit a hospital, so I waited. Looking back, I probably should have sought care earlier.” Through PS Kenya-supported community TB screening, this community member accessed testing and was linked to treatment, turning a period of delayed care-seeking into a pathway to appropriate care. By bringing TB screening closer to communities, PS Kenya helps identify people who may otherwise delay seeking care and link them to the services they need. This approach creates opportunities for earlier diagnosis and treatment initiation, reducing delays that can leave TB undetected and untreated. @GlobalFund @Amref_Worldwide #PSKenya #EndTB #TBScreening #CommunityHealth #EarlyDetection

Access to maternal health information depends not only on what is shared, but also on whether everyone can understand and participate. Through the Accelerate programme, a routine health education session at GK Prison Dispensary in Kajiado provided information on the importance of starting antenatal care early after pregnancy is confirmed. When a deaf participant joined the session, a staff member with sign-language interpretation skills helped her follow the discussion and access the information being shared. This practical approach to communication helped remove a barrier to participation and shows how inclusive health education can help people with disabilities access information needed to make informed maternal health decisions. @denmarkinkenya @Gvrckenya #Accelerate #KajiadoCounty #DisabilityInclusion #MaternalHealth

A young woman’s aspirations can become more attainable when she has the knowledge, skills and opportunities to pursue them. In Tsangatsini, Kilifi County, 20 adolescent girls and young women who completed a mentorship through the A360 Bridge to Accelerate programme subsequently registered for vocational training, choosing courses in fashion design and tailoring, hairdressing and beauty. The mentorship connected sexual and reproductive health information with life skills, goal setting and vocational learning, demonstrating how integrated approaches can link young women’s health and wellbeing with their future aspirations. Through A360, PS Kenya supports girl-centered approaches that recognize young women’s ambitions and connect them with opportunities to shape their futures. Maternal healthcare depends on more than reaching a health facility. Women also need continued support to remain connected to care throughout pregnancy. At Iftin Level 4 Hospital in Garissa, Community Health Promoters help bridge the gap between facility services and households by connecting pregnant women to antenatal care, following up on missed appointments and sharing information on pregnancy danger signs and birth preparedness. Through the Accelerate programme, PS Kenya and its partners are strengthening community–facility linkages that support continuity of maternal healthcare and bring primary healthcare services closer to families. This approach demonstrates the value of connecting facility-based care with community-level follow-up to build a more responsive and connected health system. Knowing the signs is important. But awareness must also lead somewhere. People need trusted information, supportive conversations, and access to appropriate health services when they notice something concerning. At PS Kenya, we continue to support healthier communities by strengthening access to health information, encouraging timely care-seeking, and working with partners to bring health support closer to people. Because awareness becomes meaningful when it helps someone take the next step. #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #AccessToCare #EarlyAction #PSKenya

Introducing digital tools into community health is only part of the solution; understanding how they work in practice is essential to determining their value for frontline care. Through the Medic Afya study in Bungoma, PS Kenya is examining the use of HealthPulse AI by Community Health Promoters managing suspected malaria cases. The study provides an opportunity to understand how CHPs interact with the tool, how it fits into their interpretation of malaria test results and what challenges or opportunities emerge during its use. While CHPs are using the technology in community-level care, the study is generating evidence on its practical application and potential contribution to frontline decision-making. These findings can help inform future decisions on the use of digital decision-support tools within primary healthcare. By examining both the practical experience of CHPs and the role of technology in care delivery, PS Kenya is building an evidence base to guide more responsive, context-appropriate digital health interventions. #PSKenya #MedicAfya #HealthPulseAI #DigitalHealth #Malaria #CommunityHealth

When young people seek Sexual Reproductive Health and Right and HIV services, the way a provider handles their questions, privacy and personal concerns can shape their experience of care. Through the Tiko Programme, PS Kenya works with private facilities in the Tunza network to assess clinical governance, identify gaps and guide improvements in provider accountability and safeguarding. Supported facilities have recorded clinical-governance scores above 90%, demonstrating strong performance against the programme’s assessment criteria. These assessments help facilities monitor whether established standards are being upheld and identify where further action is needed to protect young people’s rights and improve their experience of care. For young people, the intended benefit is care delivered with greater accountability, respect for confidentiality and attention to their individual needs. By monitoring standards and guiding improvements, PS Kenya helps Tunza facilities maintain services that young people can approach with confidence. #PSKenya #Tiko #Tunza #ClinicalGovernance #QualityImprovement

When girls can communicate their needs, make informed decisions and manage their resources, they are better equipped to navigate challenges and pursue their ambitions. Through Binti Shupavu Skills, part of A360 programme, girls develop practical skills in communication, decision-making and financial literacy that they can apply in their everyday lives. These skills help girls express their opinions, weigh the consequences of their choices, manage money and make informed decisions about their health and relationships. They also equip them to think critically about their options and take practical steps towards their personal goals. By combining life skills with sexual and reproductive health information and peer connections, PS Kenya helps girls build the knowledge and agency to make choices that reflect their needs, values and aspirations. @CIFFchild #PSKenya #A360 #BintiShupavu #GirlsEmpowerment

Young people need more than access to sexual and reproductive health services; they need clear information, respectful counselling and the freedom to make informed decisions about their health. Through the Tiko Programme and PS Kenya’s Tunza network, quality-assured services help young people understand their options, ask questions without fear of judgement and make choices that reflect their individual needs. When providers offer accurate information and respond to young people’s concerns, they can make decisions with greater clarity and confidence. Strong clinical governance helps ensure that these standards of care are consistently upheld across the Tunza network. By prioritizing quality counselling and young people’s experiences, PS Kenya contributes to Sexual Reproductive Health and Right services that respect their autonomy and enable them to make informed choices about their health and wellbeing. #PSKenya #Tiko #Tunza #InformedChoice #YouthFriendlyServices

Universal Health Coverage starts with ensuring that people can access essential healthcare where they live, while helping health teams understand and respond to their needs. Through malaria programme, PS Kenya builds the capacity of Community Health Promoters (CHPs) to bring malaria services closer to households, recognize suspected cases, conduct rapid diagnostic tests, provide treatment for uncomplicated malaria and refer patients who need further care. Beyond providing care, CHPs collect and report community-level malaria data through health information systems, helping health teams track cases, monitor service delivery and identify gaps that require attention. This connects individual care with the evidence needed to guide decisions at community and county levels. By equipping CHPs to deliver services and generate reliable health information, PS Kenya contributes to stronger primary healthcare systems, more timely access to malaria diagnosis and treatment, and progress towards Universal Health Coverage, where access to essential care is not determined by how far someone lives from a health facility. @GlobalFund @Amref_Worldwide #PSKenya #Malaria #UniversalHealthCoverage #CommunityHealth #HealthSystems

Completing TB treatment takes more than access to medication. Patients may also need emotional encouragement and practical strategies to navigate the challenges that can make it difficult to stay on treatment. “Some days were difficult. I would feel tired and discouraged, but I reminded myself why I needed to complete my treatment. Talking to others going through the same experience also helped me stay focused.” At Mama Lucy Hospital in Embakasi Central, people receiving treatment for drug-sensitive tuberculosis (TB) came together for a psychosocial support session focused on treatment adherence. By sharing their experiences, participants could draw encouragement from others who understand the realities of living with TB and managing its treatment. Through #TB programme, PS Kenya recognizes the role of psychosocial support in complementing clinical care. Creating opportunities for patients to share experiences and encourage one another can help address the emotional challenges of treatment and reinforce their commitment to completing the prescribed course. @GlobalFund @Amref_Kenya #PSKenya #EndTB #TB #TreatmentAdherence #PeerSupport
