A record number of officers were barred from policing last year for offences including child sexual abuse, rape and stalking, new figures reveal. In total, 757 were banned from serving after they were sacked for breaching professional standards, up from 735 in 2024/25 and 594 in 2023/24. It is the highest number in a year since the barred list was introduced at the end of 2017. Five superintendents and four chief superintendents were among those banned for life from policing.

Former Private Pilot License Holder here. My thoughts on the Leers accident? I don't have any, why? because I've never flown or qualified for the Leer (or any Jet powered aircraft), because I wasn't in the cockpit and because I'm not a fucking NTSB investigator. My only thoughts are of sympathy for the families in their time of loss.

Really good to see people taking a leaf out of other peoples books and are now starting to encourage civil discourse It's all most have been asking for. A step in the right direction, hopefully 🙏🏼

WORD OF THE DAY: FLAPDOODLER: Someone who talks or writes pompous, boastful or absolute nonsense. Quite frankly, considering some of the people I encounter online, I think this word is LONG overdue a revival! It's wonderfully descriptive, gloriously old-fashioned and considerably more polite than some of the alternatives! So, who's joining me in bringing back FLAPDOODLER?
