1/7 Search analytics are clues, not diagnoses. A high “products found” rate can still hide an irrelevant result, a buried best match, or the wrong variant. The useful question isn’t “did something return?” It’s “what did the shopper actually see?”

6/7 The operating loop is small: Check trust → choose one repeated pattern → inspect the live result → change one responsible layer → measure a comparable period. The goal isn’t to make every metric rise. It’s to make one decision you can defend.

The launch matters because it attacks the two frictions that stop agents from buying today: 1. Identity 2. Payments An agent with no stable account cannot be attributed or trusted. An agent with no native payment path needs a human to add a card, generate a key.

When the shopper is an agent, search becomes an interface between machines. A human shopper and a machine shopper have the same jobs. They want the exact variant, the attribute-constrained set, the compatible part, or the comparison shortlist. The difference is what they consume

A person reads a card. An agent needs the record behind the card, with enough structure to act. Your product data should be machine readable. particlesearch.com/blog/agen…

Shopify Search Analytics: Most Shopify merchants look at search analytics and see a big number, a conversion percentage, and a list of queries Then they guess what to fix. That’s not analytics. That’s noise with a header.

Your product page shows "Material: Merino". A shopper searches "merino". Your sweater never appears. That isn't a glitch. Native Shopify search doesn't index custom metafields, so the data on your product stays invisible to the search bar. Here's what that costs you:

The fix starts with one rule: stored and displayed is not the same as indexed and searchable. 5-minute test: open an incognito window, search the exact metafield value (try "merino"). If the product doesn't show, that field is display-only. No ranking tweak will recover it.

Don't take my word for it. Shopify's own search docs list exactly which product fields it searches: title, body, vendor, product_type, tags, variant title, SKU, barcode. Metafields aren't on that list. A "material: merino" spec can render perfectly yet never match a search.
