Which is WHY us old people keep begging the younger generations of fans to stop talking to actors and writers and musicians about fanfiction.
It's not because we don't think the hobby is worthwhile, we just don't want them opening their community up to legal action
I am just now learning the original author/copyright holder of the media you want to write a fanfic for can actually sue you ??? I thought fanfics and fanarts are what builds a fandom which helps the og work get more popular, so I’m gen asking why would they be against it ?

Readers are ridiculous sometimes. Yes. We've been talking about that for months. My argument is that ridiculousness is on BOTH SIDES. Writers aren't above criticism. The way a number of you "encourage/ask for engagement," is rude, demeaning, demanding and unpleasant.

Locked fic argument makes hella sense actually. I hadn't considered that. I have an account so I just read whatever. Is there any indication on the downloaded fic that it was locked?? Because there'd be no way to know just off of my downloads if not.
Regarding the Google drive discourse: the only real issue I have is if it includes locked fics bc there's a reason why we have them locked...but also if an author tells you they don't want their fics distributed that way just don't be an ass and remove it?
