ALT Infographic summarizing a multicenter retrospective observational cohort study (2010-2019) of 338 patients under 18 with hepatoblastoma across 19 institutions undergoing primary tumor resection. Compared to non-IBT patients, intraoperative blood transfusion (IBT) patients had a higher incidence of death, higher post-op hemoglobin, required more post-op transfusions, and showed no difference in recurrence rates. Findings suggest possible over-transfusion and transfusion-related coagulopathy. Conclusion: Intra-op blood transfusion was associated with a higher risk of death in children undergoing hepatoblastoma resection, and more restrictive transfusion strategies may improve outcomes. Great presentation by @nicolejbertaux of #PSORC data showing that diagnostic accuracy of PET imaging for detection of regional lymph nodes in rhabdomyosarcoma is inadequate and should not replace histologic confirmation, but may be useful as an adjunct! @APSASurgeons#APSA26
