The change we need in this election is a change from the Legislature’s decades-long ‘fund it instead of fixing it’ approach to every issue. For 10 years, Governor Scott has been focused on fixing broken systems so you see the greatest value from your tax dollars. For real change, vote for Phil Scott and the moderate candidates will work with him to get it done.

Government works better when all lawmakers have to listen, negotiate, and consider different viewpoints. Governor Scott says Republican gains brought more balance to Vermont’s legislature and gave his priorities a seat at the table. Now, he’s focused on protecting those seats and building on that progress.

Dr. Woolf, who previously served as the State Economist under Democratic Governor Madeleine Kunin, described Janoo’s platform as “way outside the mainstream of economics.” This is particularly newsworthy because Dr. Woolf is an actual economist, which may account for his use of math in analyzing Janoo’s economic and tax policies. Dr. Woolf warns that Janoo’s programs appear unworkable; drive high-income households out of Vermont; and increase healthcare costs. Here’s what Professor Woolf told Vermont Public: -He sees no plans to translate her theories into practice. -“There so much in there of these grandiose schemes that it’s really hard to figure out how you would do them in terms of actually setting them out,” he said. “And I doubt most of them would work.” - Janoo’s healthcare proposal also has the potential to increase the costs of primary care, not lower them. We need more taxpayers, not more taxes. That’s why Gov. Scott has focused on real reform and targeted investments in areas like housing, public safety, career and technical training, and outdoor recreation and tourism to keep and attract people to support our economy. Governing takes hard, smart work - not gimmicks and more taxes.

Affordability is on the ballot....Period. This November, much more is on the line for Vermont. Governor Scott voiced his support for Ashley Bartley (running for the Vermont State Senate to represent the towns of Essex, Fairfax, Milton, and Westford) Senate run, praising her work in the legislature and her focus on making Vermont more affordable. We need you to vote with that in mind.

A super PAC supporting the opponent has launched dishonest attack ads against Governor Scott. It is the same organization that has advocated for higher taxes on home heating fuel, increased electricity rates, higher income taxes, policies that have hurt rural Vermont, and more unaffordable costs for Vermonters. They’re fighting to make Vermont more expensive. He is fighting to lower costs so families can thrive and Vermonters can keep more of what they earn. -Team Scott

I know you're frustrated. I am too. Property taxes are out of control, health insurance is too expensive, and housing costs continue to rise. I've worked on your behalf to prevent hundreds of millions in even higher taxes that Vermonters simply can’t afford. But too often the legislature has had other ideas.

When your decisions affect someone else’s livelihood, experience matters. Governor Scott spent 35 years in construction after studying the trades and training at UVM to become an instructor. He chose to go into business, a background he says gave him a deep appreciation for the trades and entrepreneurs.
