Heute erscheint mein Buch zur "Politischen Theorie nach Machiavelli" bei Matthes&Seitz Berlin! Es zeigt Machiavelli als Republikaner sowie als frühen Radikaldemokraten und Klassentheoretiker, es folgt Spuren bei Gramsci, Althusser, Pocock, Lefort, Skinner, Abensour, McCormick.

Affordability has defeated Trump’s dystopian project in the U.S. In Germany, the largest union has launched a wave of strikes on the cost of living. Across Europe, hundreds of thousands of people are out in the streets against an unbearable status quo. Tonight, I’ll discuss what an ANTI-FASCIST ECONOMICS has to offer for the labor movement with @fahimiyasmin, chair of the German trade union federation. 🔗 Join us. Link below.

Link in X-Bio.

Stay tuned for a podcast episode that Adam and I did on the economics of essentials discussing how this relates to a macro framework based on my new book.
This Affordability Bill idea from Tim Wu @superwuster focusing on market reform and pricing for key essentials seems like a good response to the macro issues facing the new Democratic majority that I raise in the latest Chartbook newsletter: After the midterms: How does America come down from Trump’s “speedball economy”?

The citizens have spoken, Brandon. They chose Sociology. They chose Anthropology. And yes, they chose Gender Studies. That is how democracy works.
Lot of academics woke up today feeling relief at the prospect that they won't have to reform higher ed after all.

We got one of the country's foremost advocates for Medicare for All in the senate for years to come.
It is my honor and privilege to be headed to the US Senate to serve the great state of Michigan.  Michigan, we did what they said couldn’t be done. We won. Together. Now the real work begins.

After spending $400 million to defeat the California billionaire tax—the largest sum ever spent by one side in a ballot initiative or midterm election—Silicon Valley billionaires have won this battle. But they will lose this war. It’s only a matter of time, and the Democratic wave may well accelerate this shift. 🧵
