Parents want to remain in charge. 75% with children under 18 agree that parents should have the freedom to decide how best to raise their children. Across all adults, 68% agree and just 19% disagree - a clear public preference for parental autonomy. whitestoneinsight.com/ci-ct-…

Most people have barely heard of the proposed conversion therapy legislation. 69% have never heard of it. 23% have heard of it but know no details. Just 4% say they know about it in detail. A strikingly low level of public awareness for such a contentious proposal. whitestoneinsight.com/ci-ct-…

@WStoneInsight poll: Support for extending conversion therapy laws is far more conditional than headline figures suggest. 51% initially support extending the law. But among these supporters, 76% would oppose it if at least one of 15 tested scenarios were included. whitestoneinsight.com/ci-ct-…

Am looking forward to this!
This week I brought together refugee activist @krishk and political influencer @LozzaFox for an Uncommon Ground recording on immigration, identity and Islam. Both profess Christian faith but have different approaches to how to respond politically and culturally to these issues. However, I think we were all also surprised at how much they were both able to agree about in the end too. These are the kind of conversations Uncommon Ground exists for - getting out of our social media echo chambers and re-humanising each other with genuine space for a meeting of minds and learning how to disagree well. So, whoever you think you will or won’t agree with, make sure to catch this conversation as part of Season 2 of Uncommon Ground… coming soon!

Please watch this, regarding the evidence stage of the “gay conversion” bill. This is an appallingly written bill that will criminalise parents having honest conversations with children about gender and sexuality. We are already have laws that criminalise conversion practices. They are called child abuse and neglect laws. And they are very effective.
“We could amend this Bill here, there and everywhere, carve out this, tweak that, but at the end of the day the government would still be passing a Bill that says there’s one area, and one area only, of medical practice where you could get prosecuted if you put a foot wrong. That won’t be a chilling effect, that’ll be a deep freeze” Magnificent from @Jebadoo2 #BinTheBill

This utterly bleak line from the Resolution Foundation on living standards in their overnight Budget analysis. "Between now (2026-27) and the end of the Parliament (2028-29), typical incomes are forecast to fall in total by £1,050 (3 per cent)." In other words: On average we'll be getting poorer in the run-up to the next election.

We hear much of old people being bigoted in their antiquated ideas. It has always been my experience that the young are much more bigoted in their new ideas.

The last people I want to see get powers to levy more taxes are those running local authorities, having seen what they do when they are given power to levy anything eg surcharge on holiday homes. If this is "devolution" I don't want it.
Exc: Andy Burnham is “determined” to grant mayors the authority to overrule local councils and introduce tourist taxes across their regions, The Times understands. Under current plans, the levy can be blocked if 2/3 of councils in a region agree to veto it
