Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories released on PSP 21 years ago today. Set three years before GTA III, you played as Toni Cipriani, working your way up through the Leone crime family. Having a full GTA experience in your pocket back in 2005 was mind blowing

I miss when PlayStation games came with proper instruction manuals. Character bios, illustrated maps, button combinations, and artwork you might never see in the game itself. Some of those PS1 booklets were worth keeping just for the artwork alone.

Contra: Shattered Soldier released on PS2 24 years ago today. The game barely gave you a second to breathe. No hunting for weapon pickups either, since you always had three weapons to switch between. And those huge bosses just kept getting more ridiculous.

Still playing PS2 on the original console and a CRT in 2026. There's something satisfying about grabbing a game off the shelf, plugging in a wired controller, and playing the way you remember.
