"BOMBSHELL NEW UPDATE: "THE INSIDE JOB: It just got worse for Elon Musk." CREDIBILITY: DESTROYED."
On January 20, 2025, Trump signed an executive order giving Elon Musk's DOGE "full and prompt access" to every federal agency's systems. Unelected and never Senate-confirmed, Musk sent in young staffers. Edward Coristine, 19 — self-styled "Big Balls" on LinkedIn — was fired from a cybersecurity internship for leaking company data. Marko Elez, 25, received read-write access to the Treasury's payment system; the Treasury later admitted in court it was granted "inadvertently." He resigned after racist posts ("normalize Indian hate") surfaced; Musk rehired him, and Trump endorsed it.
They accessed the Bureau of the Fiscal Service, which moves $6 trillion a year — 88% of all federal payments, including Social Security checks, Medicare, tax refunds, and veterans' benefits. Systems held names, Social Security numbers, birth dates, birthplaces, addresses, phones, emails, and bank details. A federal judge listed every item.
Laws violated include the Privacy Act (5 U.S.C. § 552a), barring disclosure of records without written consent; 26 U.S.C. § 6103, making unauthorized taxpayer data disclosure a felony (up to 5 years); 18 U.S.C. § 1030, criminalizing unauthorized access to government computers; and the Appointments Clause (Article II, Section 2), requiring Senate confirmation for such power. Musk was never confirmed.
Connecticut's Attorney General called it "the largest data breach in U.S. history." Nineteen states sued. A federal judge called DOGE's operation "chaotic and haphazard" and ordered all copies destroyed. The Supreme Court allowed continued access to Social Security records 6-3, including medical and family court files.
In January 2026, the DOJ admitted DOGE moved sensitive Social Security data to unauthorized Cloudflare servers; the agency cannot determine what was shared or if it remains. Whistleblower Charles Borges, SSA's chief data officer, was forced to resign: 300 million Americans' records exposed — "a generational problem" and "national security risk." Unchangeable data like mother's maiden name and birthplace means permanent exposure.
The "fraud hunt" was cover; the GAO found solid evidence for only 4% of claimed savings. The same week DOGE began, Trump fired 17 inspectors general — five investigating Musk's companies.
The Labor IG had 17 open Tesla and SpaceX cases; the Agriculture IG was escorted out while probing Neuralink monkey deaths. SpaceX defense contracts then tripled to $5.9 billion. Musk co-leads the Pentagon's weapons-buying study while holding $6.4 billion in Pentagon contracts. He gutted the CFPB — which polices digital payments — while building a payments business on X.
Trump signed the order, gave Musk a White House office, endorsed the rehire, and his administration fought every lawsuit to the Supreme Court, securing the right to keep the data.
Congress must investigate with subpoenas and hearings. Democrats must not let this die. An unelected billionaire's team obtained 300 million Americans' Social Security numbers, and the sitting president held the door open.
