A statement from Dilan's family to our Terrapin community 💛
ALT A graphic reading: Dilan is safe, and our family is together again. As his parents and brother, we can't fully put into words what that means to us.
We want to thank President Pines, Chief Mitchell, the University of Maryland Police Department and its detectives, Vice President for Student Affairs Patty Perillo and the university leadership. They brought in local, state, and federal agencies, searched with dogs, drones, and thermal cameras, and worked day and night until Dilan was found.
We saw firsthand how far this university will go for one of its students.
ALT A graphic reading: Dilan especially wants to thank the students who put up flyers all over campus and the community. We will never forget.
To everyone who reached out to us and shared Dilan's photo, thank you. It meant more than you know.
The University of Maryland did an outstanding job, and we are proud that Dilan is a Terp. Thank you for bringing him home.

As the U.S. works to advance the next generation of quantum technology, strong partnerships across government, academia, and industry will be essential to translating scientific progress into broader economic and national security benefits.
The new @Microsoft quantum research center at the @UofMaryland’s Discovery District is a great example of that collaboration in action—bringing together researchers, government partners, and industry to strengthen the quantum ecosystem and help move promising technology from research toward real-world impact.
Appreciate @GovWesMoore, @President_Pines, and the many partners behind Maryland’s Capital of Quantum Initiative. Microsoft is proud to contribute to this shared effort and to support continued U.S. innovation in quantum.
