And yet- it was Trump who bragged about “wiping out” Iran and destroying its civilization. Our friends and relatives in Iran were saying goodbyes to each other.
“I didn’t have to fire a missile.” - President Obama on Iran. That’s right, Mr. President. You didn’t. Not when Iran-backed militias in Iraq killed American service persons there. Not as the IRGC deepened ties with the Taliban (but also al-Qaeda and the Haqqani network) as it killed Americans in Afghanistan. Not when the IRGC-QF plotted to kill the Saudi Ambassador to Washington in a Georgetown restaurant via Mexican drug cartels Not as Iran began enriching uranium to 20 percent purity, which is highly enriched. Not as Iran began enriching uranium in centrifuges in its highly fortified underground Fordow facility for the first time. Not as Iran threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz. Not as IRGC-Navy fast attack craft routinely harassed American Navy vessels and commercial traffic in and around the Persian Gulf. Not as Iran tested medium range ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear payloads with genocidal phrases against Israel written in Hebrew. Not as Iran continued to work on space launch vehicles with the ultimate goal of developing longer-range strike platforms that could one day threaten the European continent and the US homeland. Not as Iran beefed up its drone program. Not as the regime successfully co-opted the Houthis in Yemen and began to provide them with material support as the group entered the Axis of Resistance. Not as the Islamic Republic backed Assad’s slaughter of Syrians to the hilt and intervened decisively, later along with Russia, in that theater and created a security and humanitarian catastrophe I the Middle East and refugee crises that has thrown a massive curveball into European politics and demographics. And last but certainly not least, not as Iranians whose calls for support you ignored during the Green Movement were killed, arrested, beaten, and tortured.

OBAMA: He pulled out of the JCPOA, starts this war—Seven months later, six months after they declared victory, how's that war going?  Our allies and our bases have been attacked. Americans have been killed. Hundreds of Americans have been wounded. We have run down our stock of missiles. And Iran now has veto power over the strait of hormuz, where oil goes through to the world market.  This is the reason why the price of oil is up. Nobody disputes that. This is the reason the price of diesel is up. This is the reason why the price of just about everything is up. Meanwhile, you got the defense secretary who's squarely focused on important matters: the jawlines and testosterone levels of our troops.  These are not serious people. And the problem is you end up having to pay the price for their lack of seriousness.

💥After weeks of threatening to hit Iran Israel's hapless DefMin Israel Katz barely gets a denial out of his mouth– "We're not launching an Iran operation before the elections. That's an opposition lie"– before Trump pops up and says he might strike Iran tomorrow. Who knows.

Every single word of this:
“How much time do you think this defense secretary spends looking in the mirror in the morning? These are not serious people” — Obama’s audience in Ohio is hanging on every word as he skewers Trump and Hegseth

The hardliner Paydari Front - close to Saeed Jalili has asked the government to withdraw from the NPT and “reconsider the defense and military doctrine.”

Interesting comparison :
U.S. Ambassador to Türkiye Tom Barrack: Türkiye is a NATO ally, and Israel is a NATO ally. Navigating between these two NATO allies is like navigating between two teenage kids that grew up next to each other that all of a sudden end up in a fight. Source: @MarioNawfal

I agree :
There is something deeply wrong with a political system that allows one trillionaire to buy his own personal U.S. Senator.

Told @NPR that Netanyahu’s massive military response in Hebron, just days before Israel’s elections, appears driven more by political considerations than by a coherent security strategy. Collective punishment will not bring security. It will only deepen Palestinian resentment and fuel further violence. Israel must distinguish between terrorists, who must be stopped, and civilians who simply want to live in peace. Providing Palestinians with hope, economic opportunities, and stability is essential to Israel’s long-term security. @Rsherlock npr.org/2026/10/23/nx-s1-601…

Jimmy seems to have a problem with the Quincy Institute because its mission is to encourage restraint in US foreign policy in the pursuit of world peace..and that's no bueno for an Israel shill such as himself. Who funds the Middle East forum, where Jim serves as its chief strategist? Why did a US-based think tank, launched by a former state department official, have something known as the "Israel Victory Project" which seeks “to steer US policy toward backing an Israel victory over the Palestinians”? Jim is willing to throw Americans, our service members and the global economy under the bus for Israel's war against Iran. Yet he has the audacity to smear Trita Parsi as un-American? Hilarious. All will be laid bare in a piece I'm working on for my Substack. Stay tuned.
So I went on @piersmorgan's show yesterday. I like his show, but I have declined many previous invitations because I don't think it's a fit for me. I agreed yesterday, hoping the other panelists would be willing to engage in a real debate for at least a few minutes. Boy, was I overestimating him :) Hanson immediately starts throwing personal attacks and lies at me, forcing me to interrupt him in an attempt to bring the conversation back to factual matters. But if someone doesn't have enough dignity and self-respect to avoid embarrassing himself by sinking this low, you can't expect them to respect the rules of debate either. To Piers' defense, he did step in and made many of the substantive points I planned to make. Anyways, here's yet another attempt by warmongers to disqualify me through slanderous attacks rather than address the actual substance of my argument. I would say enjoy, but not sure you will :)
