The @queensbotanicl is an oasis in the midst of Queens’ urban sprawl. And it’s fast becoming the heartbeat of our borough’s resiliency revolution.
This week, we got a glimpse of the what will eventually become QBG’s $34 million new sustainable education center, opening in 2027.
This center will feature a teaching solarium, a demonstration kitchen, indoor classrooms, a green roof and so much more.
Not only will this center double @queensbotanicl’s capacity to welcome visitors, but it will teach us about the importance of sustainability and resiliency.
Reminder: Our annual Queens College Fair is two weeks from today at John Bowne High School!
Dozens of colleges will be on hand for our students and families to meet with. To all our high school seniors, come out and find the college for you.

The principals, assistant principals and administrators in our schools are the unsung heroes of our community — navigating bureaucracy while educating our kids.
Great to thank them at @FollowCSA’s Leadership Conference this weekend, as we empower the next wave of school leaders.
We're celebrating Diwali at Borough Hall on Tuesday, November 10!
Come enjoy authentic cuisine, special performances, honors for local leaders and more.

We've made so much progress together to elevate the economies of Richmond Hill and Ozone Park post-COVID, and the proof is in @NYSComptroller's economic snapshot.
Great to join the Comptroller today to discuss that success, while also outlining the work still ahead of us.
Making sure our small businesses can thrive, not just survive, is at the top of that to-do list.
So @NYSComptroller and I hit Liberty Avenue to hear directly from business owners about the issues they face and how we can help. And to eat some authentic Guyanese food, of course.

Richmond Hill + Ozone Park in Queens are thriving, diverse neighborhoods. I’m with @QnsBPRichards today at the South Ozone Park Library to discuss my office’s new economic snapshot of the area. There is much to be excited about. Looking forward to touring SE Queens and meeting with residents.

Our borough's nonprofit organizations are vital partners in helping deliver much-needed programs and services to Queens residents. That's why my office was honored to host representatives from dozens of Queens nonprofits at a mixer yesterday morning at @jamaicaarts.
The nonprofit mixer included networking opportunities and a compelling presentation from former NYC Chief Demographers Dr. Joseph Salvo and Dr. Peter Lobo on the changing demographics of Queens. We look forward to continuing to work with local nonprofits to build a better Queens.
Speedier service and quicker commutes are coming to the A line in South Queens!
Great to join the @MTA today in announcing that we're installing Communications-Based Train Control, paid for by congesting pricing. Done are the days of century-old signals stalling our subways.
Responsibly growing our cannabis industry in Queens is a top priority of my office and others. That means giving licenses for those who deserve them and closing down illegal shops.
Great to sit down with the @nys_cannabis team at Borough Hall this week to help guide that work.

The Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir in South Richmond Hill has been the heartbeat of Queens’ Hindu community for 30+ years.
And now, with this weekend’s street co-naming, the legacy of this historic house of worship and community sanctuary will last forever on Liberty Avenue.
As we all go to vote this fall, let's remember that our democracy exists in part because of those who signed up to defend it.
Join us November 9th at Borough Hall for our annual Celebration of Veterans, as we salute our Queens heroes in uniform.

Our borough's Filipino Americans have done so much to help make Queens the wonderful place it is today. That's why I was so proud to co-sponsor the Filipino American History Month parade and block party alongside @RagaForQueens in Little Manila in Woodside yesterday.
Our borough's Filipino community came out in force for this great event, which featured incredible entertainment rooted in the vibrant culture of the Philippines. Thanks to @RagaForQueens for your partnership in making this Filipino American History Month event such a success!
It feels like all we've done this year is cut ribbons on incredible new athletic fields across Queens. Today, it was August Martin High School's turn to get home field advantage.
Falcons, you finally have the state-of-the-art sports complex that you have always deserved.
