Aphex Twin *NEEDS* to tour the US again for 2 reasons:
1) the public's general lexicon of acid house, experimental techno and crazy jungle would increase (like we saw w Fred again upping the US's openness to uk dubstep/2step rhythms etc)
2) he would make a lot of fkn money lol
the battle isn't if people love that music and want to spend money on it (they def do), I just feel US promoters need some type of cultural security that these acts are THAT beloved.
people always underestimate it, like how small the venues Autechre played on their last tour.
i've seen like 3 videos from the underscores b2b umru party from last night where i'm a background character from behind the stage. like in an old school blizzard cinematic lol
i truly believe you can 'trick' people into thinking your music is 'original' if the artwork or music video is unique enough
the problem is being aware enough about what's going around you to envision what's unique, and also what feels original *to you*
if you become well-invested and participate in a microscene / genre deeply (to the point that you can name almost every new release weekly) and truly believe you're doing an A/V pairing that no one's done before...
the chances are you're probably correct. so lean into that
always christmas time when the Dekmantel sets drop on youtube!!!
