Democrats claim health care is a “basic human right.”
To be clear, anything that requires the labor of another is not a human right.
Medicare for All is a slippery slope from which there will be no return.
If health care is first, what’s next?
Housing? Food? Basic income?
An automobile? Car insurance? Homeowners insurance?
Pretty soon, we’re a communist nation with government owning or controlling everything. We would own nothing.
Without any of the above, you cannot work or live safely and well, and if you face a major expense from most this can destroy you financially, even bankrupt you.
So what do you do?
You work.
You save.
You learn how to budget.
I agree health care has become too costly, but writing a blank check from taxpayers is not the answer. Here are the answers:
Increase competition. (Too many large hospital systems controlling prices under the guise of “non-profit.)
Increase transparency. (Who knows what it truly costs, until you receive the bill?)
Encourage innovation. (Less government regulation and incentivizing efficiency/innovation are the keys.)
That’s how you can actually lower health care costs and make health insurance affordable for all.
Obamacare did the opposite in all areas, which is why premiums increased by about 50% the first year alone!
You comparison shop for phone deals.
You comparison shop for food.
You comparison shop for cars.
You comparison shop for homes.
But you can’t for health care? Why?
Because they don’t want you to know what it costs.
My wife recently had basic cataract surgery on both eyes. We thought out of pocket would be $350 per eye, based on what the doctor’s office told us when she scheduled the procedures.
But that estimate didn’t include the surgeon’s charge, anesthesiologist’s charge or the hospital’s charges for each eye. Total charges were about $35,000. Total out of pocket was about $3,500. Hospital charges alone were $14,000 for each eye, for a 10-minute procedure!
I read a post on X from someone who said they had same procedure done on both eyes without insurance and total cost was $4,000.
So, paying $12,000 a year in health care insurance saved us $500, but resulted in $31,000 in additional charges paid by insurance?
That’s not lowering costs.
That’s making hospitals rich. Thats a racket.
Democrats never mention this because the medical mafia is among their largest contributors.
