It chose which parts of esports were worth preserving.
In 2023: “Building the Future of Sport.”
In 2024: REN was cancelled.
In 2026: Champions Shanghai hit Day 6 still dealing with tech failures.

That is why Champions Shanghai matters.
The tech failures are not “caused by REN dying.” That would be absurd.
But they raise the same question:
Does Riot still treat production knowledge, regional events, Tier 2 and viewing products as things worth maintaining for years?
