Making Indiana one of the healthiest states starts here
Pediatric Plastic Surgeon Emma Cordes and her husband took time Wednesday for a dental checkup at “Your Health Matters: Health in Action, Indianapolis.”
“I’ve been having trouble finding time for an appointment and this was convenient,” said Cordes. Convenience was the key to organizing a four-day event providing IU Health team members easy access to a variety of health and wellness services. It’s all part of IU Health’s ongoing effort to make Indiana one of the healthiest states in in the country.
From Sept. 9-12 team members are invited to IU Health Methodist Hospital for preventative dental cleanings and other services.
Nurse Samantha Biddle took time out from her shift in Neuroscience to get a flu shot.
“I’m passionate about preventative medicine. In our current healthcare landscape preventative health can get lost,” said Biddle. “In my 12 years of nursing, we continue to see people at their worst. We want to see them when they are well. We need to work on managing care and preventative care, and it starts with us.”
Biddle said taking part in the wellness event also made her more mindful of her family members and their health, “If you feel healthy and you know your family members are healthy, it helps give you more confidence on your job.”
In addition to dental care and flu vaccines, other services include:
-Biometric screenings (no cost; pre-registration required).
-Mobile mammograms (billed through insurance or self-pay)
