This is gross and a terrible message to send
Trayon won his special election with 2,392 votes. That’s 27.7%. More than 72% voted for someone else. This notion that he has some sweeping mandate insults the people he represents. I suspect this exaggerated sense of his support helps explain why sitting councilmembers, councilmembers-elect, and the mayor-elect lack the political courage to disavow his conduct. A principal who cares about students still has to answer for taking envelopes of cash from a school contractor. Whatever good Trayon has done for people doesn’t excuse accepting wads of cash on video. The longer our leaders rationalize this, the more it costs our city. How do we change DC’s political culture when the people leading it won’t draw even this line? @Janeese4DC

Just heard on CNN that @ossoff, safely cruising to re-election in what was originally thought to be a vulnerable senate seat in Georgia, was endorsed by many Republican mayors because his constituent service work was so good. Imagine living in a reality where “constituent services” was the driving issue behind the electing of members of Congress. Would probably be a good sign.

Compared to what we are seeing around the country, DSA-type underperformance is impossible to ignore. Jeffries and Schumer shouldn’t forget this.
Given the historic Dem wave, powered by mostly center-left candidates, worth noting that… El-Sayed only on track to prevail in Michigan by about 5. DSA-endorsed Nixon losing the one reddish Senate race where other states with similar Trump-Harris numbers flipped to Dems. DSA member Lawrence looks like he’ll lose Michigan swing seat held by Slotkin.

Trayon is active in his community and extremely popular because of it. Unfortunately he’s a moron, and corrupt, but people like him will continue to beat people like you because the people believe that he actually cares about making Ward 8 a better place while yall tweet.

#WATCH | US midterm elections 2026 | Ashburn, Virginia: An Indian-American says, "This election, you have seen the attacks that they have put on Indians across the country...We need to be thinking about what is going to put us in a good position in this country, what is going to put us in a position where we will be accepted as Americans. Do we trust the group that has consistently hated us? Or do we trust the group that has given us opportunities? I think the choice here is very easy. I think if you look at who supports us, who believes that we should be Americans, I think the answer is very clear. It's the Democrats."

Congratulations on your win tonight, @aparnafordc. Will you vote to expel Trayon White from council to uphold DSA’s values to promote “good DSA-type governance to end patronage and corruption”?
Replying to @AshleySchapitl
We don’t disagree on that. Our current “pragmatic,” moderate Mayor terribly mismanaged our budget and I’m excited for some good “DSA-type” governance to end patronage and corruption, make our services more effective, and make sure our tax dollars go further.

Or, like the DC Democratic Party, @Janeese4DC, and Party Chair @ChiomaWard7 did tonight, will you invite him to party events, give him speaking roles, and celebrate the corruption that takes away resources from our most vulnerable populations? The hypocrisy in this town is unnerving.

This is the thing. Washingtonians should be genuinely outraged by the refusal of our political leaders to distance themselves from this guy. The facts of his corruption trial are not in dispute. He took bags of cash and corrupted the programs they all support.
just baffling I encourage my fellow Washingtonians to continue insisting to their elected representatives that consorting with this crook is outrageous

.@Janeese4DC I voted for you today because I had high hopes for our city, for change that is so desperately needed here. I feel completely duped by your promises to root out corruption and end Bowser-era cronyism & kickback schemes. Why is Trayon White continuously celebrated by your camp in this way?
